Can you hear the waves? - GDT Wow Embossing Powder

Moikka! I promised something different today than cards and tags and you need to say that these are differnt! They are made as a guest designer to WOW! Embossing Powder, using embossing glitters. This is my second guest project with the embossing glitters, the first one was a journal page. When I shared that earlier this month, I made another promise. I promised that the other project would be totally different than a journal page. I hope I kept my promise - twice!

I used "Under the Sea" embossing glitter in these, which I also used in the journal. But the look is totally different because of the way I treated the powders. When I first started to think what I'd do for this month, I went through my embossing glitters searching for that first spark of inspiration. That came with two powders - the above mentioned "Under the Sea" as well as "Neptune". They both took my mind to underwater world and seashells. I had these cut shells on my craft table so I decided to try if I could fill the shells using embossing powders! It's kind of like you can now see the waves you can hear when you listen to a shell.

I first heated some Melt-It powder and delicately poured it to the bottom of the shell, trying to seal it for the color layers coming on top. Some of the shells leaked the melted powder a little, but that's why I did it. Not to waste the colored powders but rather the see-through one! After that layer had cooled, I then started heating colored powders and adding them in. I deliberately overheated some of the opaque powders so that the white started showing. This to me reminds of the froth on top of the waves.

The last coat with the embossing glitters for the cone shaped shells I did differently. I actually poured the powder inside the shell and carefully heated it there so I got this look of sprays as the powder was blown with the breeze from the heat tool.

When I then had my shells ready, I turned them into pieces of jewelry. I chose the two best cone shaped shells for a pair of earrings and the third best I added as the focal piece in an anklet. I added a silver ring to each shell and then paired them with some glass beads.

While writing this, I've already worn the earrings but I'm really looking forward to use the anklet while strolling on a beach!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely start to the new week!

What you seek is seeking you - Prima Marketing

Sweet Saturday to you! Today I'm still sharing a project using "Spring Farmhouse" but tomorrow I have something else to hopefully inspire you!

This tag is one of the smallest creations with this collection. Well, ATCs are a bit smaller but as there was a set of those, they cover a bigger area together. But small can be beautiful - especially if the papers are as sweet as these in "Spring Farmhouse". I used some flowers and some wooden pieces to decorate the tag.

Have a great start to the weekend!

No place like home - Prima Marketing

There’s no place like home! This set of ATCs celebrates the home and homey feeling. That’s why there’s a house in every card or an element of a house like the window. I also added some flowers and a star to each card as home is kind of my guiding star. I love to spend time at home with my family and friends.

These cards are made using "Spring Farmhouse" and done as Creativation samples. I think you kind of guessed that, if you have been checking the blog lately?

Thank you for your visit today! Follow your guiding star!

Sweet Memories - Prima Marketing

Sweet Thursday to you all! Yesterday I started to share a bunch of creations I made for Creativation using "Spring Farmhouse" collection from Prima Marketing. Yesterday I shared a card and today I share another one.

As "Spring Farmhouse" is about spring, I thought the little eggs fitted the theme so well. I used them together with the beautiful Prima blooms as the decorations in this card. I created a nest or wreath kind of shape using a Sizzix die.

Thank you for your visit!

Take me home - Prima Marketing

Hi there! Today I continue with sharing of the projects I did for the Creativation in the beginning of the year. In the course of several upcoming days I share cards and tags made using "Spring Farmhouse" collection.

For this card I combined the beautiful “Spring Farmhouse” with "Art Daily" supplies. I used a brown paper bag as the background, added some pink to it using Impasto paint and Modeling Paste and then layered the “Spring Farmhouse” paper strips on top.

The lady in the vintage photo makes me think about my grandmother. That’s why I added a bee in the card as in a way I see her as a queen bee. She was always on top of things, a real matron.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely Wednesday!

A process of surrender - Prima Marketing

How do you craft? Do you always clean your table after a project, or does it come more and more cluttered with each one? As I craft in our living room, I tend to clean after every project but sometimes I have “creative days” when stuff just piles to the table. My idea to this journal page came from such a day as I had little bits and pieces on the table.

The elements that were on the table were small, more or less such things that would end up in the paper recycling or waste basket at the end of the day. When I started as a crafter, I stored everything. Even the tiniest paper piece as I could use it later. After I couldn’t find anything from those stored pieces anymore, I decided to have some kind of rule to the madness and radically started getting rid of some of the stuff. At least once a year I go through my whole stash and give supplies away to my kids’ school, to friends and those teeny tiny paper pieces I still find myself sometimes storing, I throw away. I still feel bad for throwing them out, so this kind of a project, where I use them immediately feels good!

I chose the beautiful Golden Coast A4 paper pad as my bigger paper piece and then used different mediums on top. The layers behind the photo sticker, though, are completely from things I had on the table. A piece of chipboard, a tag from a purchased item and watercolor paper I colored and cut for another project. Using the stuff you already have on the table really makes sense to the phrase “Creativity feeds creativity”! So, feel inspired by the “left-overs” from another project and turn them into a new one!

I hope you find this project inspiring! Thank you for stopping by today!

Rose Garden journal - Paper Garden

Heippa and rosy Monday! Today I share a Paper Garden project with you. This time I did a video to go with it so you can see my process. It’s an easy peasy journal page, inspired by glossy pictures.

I’m not sure if glossy pictures are widely known. In Finnish they are called “kiiltokuva”. I think the tradition might come from Germany and the little pictures are known throughout the Nordic countries, but for example Wikipedia doesn’t have a page about them in English. So maybe they are only known here in the Northern Europe.

As a child I had a collection of glossy pictures. I also have my mother’s and grandmother’s glossy picture books and that of my great aunt somewhere. I guess at the moment they are over at my parent’s. The books are filled with beautiful old glossy pictures and poems friends and family have written to the pages.

So, this page was inspired by the glossy pictures but otherwise it’s got nothing to do with those books. Well, maybe one could consider the stamped phrase near the photo a poem? If you’d like to see how I made the page, please see the video below! I started with a few mediums but ended up using a bunch before the page was done. I often do that, let the project to lead me instead of the other way around.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a sweet day!

Favorite 2/3 - GDT AALL & Create

Sweet Sunday everyone! Today I'm sharing my last guest piece for AALL & Create. It's been a wonderful time making projects with the stamps and stencils!

As my last piece I did a layout. I used two big stamps in this page - "Time Flies" in a bigger segment on the background and "Eclectic Silhouette" only in details of numbers and the characters. I also added some extra touches using "Mail Art".

The title - "Favorite 2/3" comes from the fact that in the picture there's my two girls, but one of my three favorite persons is missing from the shot - my husband. But I did add three characters to the background to represent him as well!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful start to the new week!

Luscious flower garland card - Prima Marketing

Happy Midsummer everyone! I wish a joyous day to you all! If I yesterday shared grungy floral then today I'm in a pastel mode!

This card is made for a "what line" style post at Prima Marketing blog. The idea is that you need to guess the line just by studying the make. I’ve been using this collection in different projects but haven’t done a card using it yet. So, for this feature I decided to fill the gap!

I mixed different papers from the collection to get a fresh, spring-like feel to the card. The main element in the card may throw you off the scent, but if you look closely, there’s a couple of telltale details that should give the secret away. Can you guess which paper collection I used?

Thank you for stopping by today!
