Happy jar - Finnabair Ambassador

Moikka! It's a new week! Over the weekend there was a new Finnabair Ambassador Cafe at Finnabair's blog (link), did you see it? This time the theme was stress relief, how to deal with difficult situations through art and how to uplift spirit and others.

Creating is my outlet. If I'm really stressed, I just need to put my fingers to paints and I immediately feel better. The creating is my escape to another world, a balancing act from everyday and musts and dos. Also if I'm sad or angry, my first go to is talking to my husband but after that, I start a project. If something even comes from it as it's usually just playing with mediums, I never share it. That project is done totally for me.

For the Cafe post we were asked to create something uplifting. The idea of this project came from a couple of things. The first was the "Art Jar" - an online event from sweet Eliza (link). I've not done the workshop but the idea of a inspiring jar captivated me. It's like a cabinet of curiosities in miniature form!

The other inspiration was the song from Sound of Music about favorite things. I started thinking that if you are really sad or need uplifting a one time thing might not do the trick. But if you can have an uplifting thought or some reminder that there's a reason to be happy, it might help. Like the little things mentioned in the song. So I gathered some inspiring quotes from web and made them into a pdf which I then cut to strips and added to an altered Melange Pebble jar. That way you can grab a little bit of sunshine whenever in need!

If you want to use the quotes, too, you can get the file here (link) Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great start to the week and great May Day tomorrow!

Tea rose tag

Sweet Sunday all! Thank you for visiting today! Yesterday I shared a journal I made as a workshop sample to my tea workshop at Askartelupirtti and today I'm sharing the tag. I really like how this turned out and I thin partly it's got to do with the contrast. As the journal had a kraft colored cover which I didn't totally cover with paper, here I collaged the papers to the whole tag and thus have better contrast near the main cluster.

As you may know, my goal for this year is to add more fabrics and textiles into my crafts. And I'm taking it a step further as I add them to my workshops as well! There was some sewing needed during this class but not much fortunately. Just a couple of stitches to hold the soft materials together as it's the most effective way to make them into a cluster.

Thank you once again for your visit today! Wishing you a great week!

Tea star journal

Warm Saturday! How's you weekend started? Inspiring, I hope! I've been sharing the workshop sample projects I made for Askartelupirtti. I already shared the two projects I made for "Behind it - three doors more" samples and here's the two made for "No good story ever starts with drinking tea" samples. I'll share the tag tomorrow and in this post the journal.

During this workshop we played with tea. There's several ways we incorporated tea in the cover of the journal. I also picked other kit materials according to the tea colored scheme. This was a fun workshop to keep as I'm totally addicted to tea and love the scent and tone it has!

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great weekend!

Sweet card

Hi there! Yesterday I shared the door sign of this same workshop and promised to share the card today. So here it is! Done using same techniques and materials as the door sign, just a different base. My main goal during workshops is to teach mediums and techniques as then you can after workshop use those mediums and techniques to the projects you like to make best. Whether it being art journaling, card making, mixed media pieces or scrapbooking.

This card has a mixed media base done with several mediums and then a cluster of gorgeous flowers on top. During the workshop I also shared a tip how to make the flowers look even more hand made and unique than straight from the package.

If you'd like to take a workshop with me, please keep an eye on the side bar here in my blog! I add all the agreed dates there. And you can always contact me and ask for a workshop! If you like further away, there's a live demo coming Sunday the 6th. You can find more info here (link) at event's Facebook page. So excited!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a sweet start to the weekend!

Romantic door sign

Hi there! Long time no see! I'm again sorry for my absence! I was keeping workshops this weekend and somehow the start of the week, well, almost the whole week, just flew by. But here I'm sharing my workshops samples for the Askartelupirtti workshops I kept on Saturday.

These are my samples for the "Behind it - three doors more" workshop which was the evening workshop at Askartelupirtti. During this workshop we created a door sign and a card. We got to play with the new Prima supplies like Paper Texture Paste and new Metallique paints.

Here's the door sign a bit bigger. Naturally this techniques and composition could have been made on top of a canvas as well, but I thought to use something else than a traditional canvas as my background. The sturdy wooden sign fitted as the base perfectly. I'm trying always get new ideas to my workshops not only the techniques but also the base to which apply them on.

I'm sharing the card tomorrow so if you want to take a closer look of that, please be back tomorrow! Wishing you a sweet day! And thank you for stopping by today!

Rusted bottle

Sweet Saturday! I've been keeping workshops today and having a blast! This project is a workshop piece as well, not done today of course, but earlier this year. If you wish to see what I've been up to today, please check my Instagram account (link)!

This bottle is my workshop sample from a rusted bottle workshop titled "Time consumes the core of things". I really loved keeping this workshop as it's an altered item, you get to play with Rust Paste set and I got to share little tips and tricks with them and other mediums. What's also wonderful about it is that I always asked everyone to bring their own bottle so there was a surprise element to me, too! Every bottle was so different and turned even more different after the workshop!

If you'd like to take a workshop with me, please keep an eye on the sidebar there on the left. I'll add all the agreed dates there. And if you don't see a workshop in your neck of woods, please send me an email and let's see if we can make it happen!

Thank you for your visit! Have a splendid day!

Unicorn dream catcher - Sizzix

Sweet Friday! Or should I even say "sweet dreams"? Here's a little pastel dream I made using Sizzix dies. The inspiration to this dream catcher came from the feather die I ended up using for the trail of the catcher. I was intrigued by the shape of them and I wanted to use the die to something. As dream catchers seem still to be a thing, I thought to have a go with it. Then I put two and two together and thought to make a dream-like fairytale dream catcher.

The unicorn die also contributed to the color scheme - I wanted it to be cute and soft. As my goal for this year is to use more textiles in my projects, I wanted to use something else than paper for the flowers so I took a look at my stash of felt. I picked up pale pink, light yellow and spring green. To form the base to the flowers I used a vine die and made a wreath like composition to the bottom of the dream catcher.

First I thought to weave the net part of the catcher but then I managed to find a crocheted doily that was just the right size. Somehow the lace-like doily looked so much better and fitted the sweet, fairytale themed catcher fit for a princess.

I hope you liked this craft! From main Sizzix site (link) you can always find more inspiration, link to free downloadble papers and to current giveaways and competitions. Like now there's links for example to the new Making Essentials (link)wedding inspiration (link) and spring giveaway (link).

Lovely Day - Prima Marketing

Moikka! Last but not least Creativation project! A layout using Vintage Floral collection together with some TJ products. Even though the collection is done for Traveler's Journal, it's also perfect for scrapbooking or cardmaking. More Prima TJ products here (link) and if you are keen on seeing just Vintage Floral, click here (link).

I absolutely adore this Vintage Floral collection! The paper designs are so beautiful and the color palette is awesome with the hint of mint! This page is done with one of my definite favorite papers from the collection.

The photo in the layout is taken in Berlin, in the garden of Charlottenburg castle. The palace and the blooms seemed so appropriate for this collection. I mixed in some Traveler’s Journal products as well to embellish the page.

Thank you for your visit! Have a great day!

Cherry Blossom cards - Prima Marketing

Continuing with the Creativation projects! Yesterday it was a layout, today two cards and tomorrow I share the final layout and then they all are blogged! These cards are made using the Cherry Blossom collection (link).

As you can see, I went really minimalistic with these cards. Can you believe that I didn’t use any mediums in these? There’s just a simple faux stitch line going around the edge, nothing more. This gives the wonderful background paper a good chance to shine. I really feel I overdid myself with these in a way. Totally a different style and totally without mediums!

Thank you for stopping by today!

You are brilliant - Prima Marketing

Moikka! Be prepared for some Creativation overload! I'm finally sharing all the remaining Creativation projects one after another! That is two layouts and two cards using various collections. Sharing them feels a bit silly as there's newer collections from Prima already, but as these projects haven't been blogged yet, I think I ought to anyway.

This first layout is done using Amelia Rose. You can see the collection here (link) at Prima's site. I love how Amelia Rose is at the same time really floral and so modern! I used the modern side of the collection in this page about my older daughter. I painted a circle with gesso to draw the eye in to the photo and used the same circle theme to embellish the page as well.

Thank you for your visit today! Have a sweet Tuesday!

Altered palette - Wow Embossing Powder

Hello and happy Monday! It's again a new week. What better way to start it than share something new? This palette is first of its kind but I bet it's not the last. First you ask - first I used almost only embossing powders to color the project!

I'm in a spring or even summer kind of mood and going for flowers and candy colors all the time. For this post I created something with flowers, yes, but the color scheme isn't the most summery of them all. I actually first thought to use white gesso instead of black... but I just love how the black really lets the metallic touches shine and shows the colors!

Can you believe that all the colors in the palette are created with embossing powders and foil? On top of those I only used black gesso and silver wax, but all the turquoise and green shades are of embossing powders!

I created a step by step tutorial to this piece. If you want to see the steps, please visit Wow's blog here (link)

This kind of project needs some time and patience, but the end result is quite striking, don't you think? Like I said, the black background really makes the colors and shine pop.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you find this post inspiring! Ta ta for now!
