Kässäfestarit - an event

Moikka moi! This post is mainly in Finnish as it's about an event in the end of this month here in Finland. I'm demoing there and making art journal pages. This is an example page I made, but I'm thinking of going with the flow and maybe even following requests of the event goers.

Heippa!

Demo at Leimailutaivas

Hiya there and happy new week to you all! This Saturday I'm going to demo some new Finnabair products at a fair here in Finland. If you visited Creativation, you saw me working on these tags there and now I'm doing them in Leimailutaivas!

Heippa! Otetaas suomeksikin sama juttu vaikka tuossa allahan se lukee mainoksen muodossakin. Eli tulevana lauantaina olen mukana Leimailutaivas messuilla demoilemassa Finnabair-sarjan uutuuksia.

Askartelupirtin kurssit

Hiya! This post is about workshops at Askarelupirtti event in Finland so the post is in Finnish. If you'd like to take a workshop with me, please send me an email to state your interest and let's see what we can do! Thank you!

Heippa! Tänä vuonna olisin tulossa Askartelupirttiin kurssittelemaan lauantaina. Pirttiin on tarjolla kaksi ihan uutta kurssia, jotka on tehty vain tätä tapahtumaa varten!

Molemmille kursseille mahtuu 10 henkeä. Jotta kurssit toteutuvat, täytyy osallistujia olla vähintään 8 kummallakin. Ilmottautua voi vaikka heti suoraan minulle – rkovasin (a) gmail.com. Korvaa (a) @-merkillä ja poista välit. Ilmoittautuminen päättyy 23.3.2018. Kurssit tulee maksaa ennakkoon.

Kurssit toteutuvat!

”No good story ever starts with drinking tea” – albumin kansi ja kortti 42 €

Olen totaalinen teeaddikti!

Kurssi on TÄYNNÄ!

“Behind it – three doors more” – ovikyltti ja kortti 38 €

Paikkoja vapaana 4.

Angels in Leimailutaivas 2017 - demo

Hi there and happy Monday! Heippa ja iloista maanantaita - suomenkielinen teksti löytyy hieman alempaa!

Today I share some Christmas cards with you. Yes, you read right. Christmas! These are created as a demo samples for Leimailutaivas, an event here in Finland which I'm attending next month. If you want to learn more about the event, please visit the site here (link)

In the event I'm demoing Finnabair waxes and the Sparks paints together with some other Finnabair mediums and the wonderful embossing glitters from Wow Embossing Powder. I'll be also using Iron Orchid stamps and moulds by Prima. The focal point of the card was inspired by something Sharon did in Paris this spring - you can't believe how quick that is and how striking the result is!

If you happen to be around Helsinki on the September 30th, please join the fun and come to Puistokulma!

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Ihanaa alkanutta viikkoa! Toivottavasti Puistokulmassa nähdään!

Ps. Olethan huomannut myös syksyn kurssit? Tulevana sunnuntaina ollaan Perniössä, ensi kuussa Helsingissä, sitten Turussa ja lokakuussa Ikaalisissa! Tästä linkistä pääset katselemaan kursseja (linkki).

Version Scrap 2017

Hello there and sorry for the absence! I came back home from Paris on Sunday but unfortunately the stress and travel took its toll and the flu got the best of me. Now I'm back better again and thought to write a post about the event as it had its turns and was quite eventful!

I started my journey on Wednesday morning from Helsinki. The flight was really early and I arrived to Paris before noon but the travel from the airport to the city center and to Vincennes took forever. But when I arrived to the hotel a bigger problem emerged - Prima's shipment was stuck in customs. Oh my gosh! The products had arrived well on time but unfortunately there were big difficulties with the customs to get the products released.

So when we should have been setting up the booth, we were on the phone trying to get the shipment released and the show on the road so to say. Naturally it was bad that the products were there but so were Sharon's and mine workshop supplies and kits! We were experiencing a language barrier while trying to resolve the problem, but luckily our interpreter or should I say miracle worker Andrea came in early and set to work right away. But as we didn't have products to put to the booth, we needed a plan B...

Thursday dawned and the show opened. We had arranged the tables so that we could demo and boy I was happy that I had brought some supplies "just in case" as well as my two journals. I was using watercolors, stamping and coloring with them and Color Blooms and Sharon demoed Sparks and Waxes. It was great to hear people's reactions and they were intrigued by the products and techniques!

I was so happy to meet Sharon again as we have met briefly a couple of years ago in the same event. She was teaching then and I attended the show and some classes. I was also thrilled to meet Nathalie! She was so sweet and so awesome! Whenever Andrea was needed elsewhere, Nathalie helped with the language. I understand some French but speaking is a whole other story.

Because the products weren't there, we needed to cancel some workshops, too. For my first one, the one on Thursday morning, there was a misunderstanding and while we were under the impression that Version Scrap would inform the students about the cancellation, they weren't notified. After that first workshop we were always on site with either Andrea or Nathalie to explain and inform and apologize. It was a terrible situation for everyone. We all felt so bad for the people who had enrolled to the classes. I know some French, like I said, so I could say: "Je suis désolé. C'est une catastrophe."

Saturday was a fantastic day as I got to keep one of the four scheduled workshops! Three needed to be canceled, but I got to keep one! Boy I was overjoyed! As you can see from the picture below, I was just thrilled! The people attending were so skilled, worked like a whirlwind and everybody's bottle was just awesome. I felt honored, privileged and touched. Keeping workshops is my passion and they give me so much!

What also made me feel really touched and emotional was the feedback - naturally the feedback from the workshop, too, but most of all about the difficulty with the products, need to cancel the workshops and all that. Everyone was so helpful, understanding and kind. So a big, huge, heartfelt thank you to all and each and everyone!

Among it all I had some wonderful food and most of all company. The company was in fact so great that I forgot to take photos! I only have the one of the "Prima girls" - Sharon, Nathalie and me. Great that I have that but such a shame that I don't have more! I enjoyed working alongside Sharon and Nathalie and being in the booth.

First of all I met wonderful people during the show! They came to the Prima booth or then I just bumped into them along the show floor. It was great to see familiar faces and hear stories of projects people had made. Thank you to everyone who said hi!

Besides people in the show floor I also met and went to dinner with Marsha, Harold and Birgit on one day and with a bigger crowd on another. The bigger crowd consisted the 13Arts girls Terhi, Olga, Marta and Fiona, us Prima girls Molly, Sharon, me and Andrea, Debby Schuh and her interpreter and then Birgit. It was really amazing to be gathered to the same table!

One last note still concerning the workshops. First of all, my apologies once more that we needed to cancel! I felt completely horrible and helpless! I'm deeply sorry for the lost time and the inconvenience and disappointment.

I should get all the email addresses of the people who were enrolled to my workshops from the organization, from Version Scrap. I want to send all the people who were enrolled the .pdf instructions at least as the workshops were cancelled. I gathered some of the addresses already on site, but I'm missing quite a few.

So if you were enrolled and want to get the instructions, please send me a mail. My address is rkovasin@gmail.com. The instructions are in English but if you need help or have any questions, I'm doing the best I can to help!

All in all, it was a really eventful few days in Paris! I was happy to be asked to attend, to keep the workshop, to meet lovely people and dine with friends... Paris had a lovely though quite chilly weather, too, and the food was great!

I hope someday to return to Paris or France and keep more workshops there. And there might be a chance of that happening... just saying! Fingers crossed!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely evening!

Version Scrap, here I come!

Oh my, oh my, oh my! I still can't believe it! Not only I'm keeping a couple of workshops at Version Scrap next month but I'm invited there by Prima and working in the booth as well! And if that's not enough, I finally get to meet Sharon face to face and work along side her! So many things I'm super happy, delighted and grateful for!

That being said, maybe I should write a few words about the event? Are you familiar with Version Scrap? It's a huge show for scrapbooking in Paris, at Parc Floral. There's different exhibitors, classes and inspiration available. You can discover the trends and meet other like-minded people. Here's a page with the exhibitor info (link) if you want to see who are coming with their products. If you wish to find more info about the event itself, here's the link to the event site (link)

If you'd like to take a workshop with me, then please click yourself here (link) where all the classes are being presented. I'm teaching two workshops, an altered bottle and the Finnabair denim journal. In both workshops we play with Finnabair mediums and use other products by her as well. I'm teaching both workshops two times, so you can choose a time that suits you better! You get a kit full of products, full packages of products and also a lovely apron. I'm also adding some lovely little extras to the kits as a personal thank you. It would be awesome to see you there!

If a workshop isn't to your liking, maybe come and meet me in the booth? I'll be in the event from Thursday to Saturday, the whole three days! Would love to see you there! Ce serait bien de vous y voir! (There's a translator at site, so no need to worry if you are not comfortable using English - or if the last sentence didn't make any sense.)

My love and me - Matka Luovuuteen

Yesterday I shared my first project done during Olga Heldwein's workshops in Matka Luovuuteen event. Today I share the other one, a canvas I did during the "Retrospections" workshop.

I'm probably sounding like a parrot, but this workshop, too, was so much fun! You probably know that after some time crafting and playing with the different mediums, there's not maybe so many new techniques one can be taught, but instead it's about the idea behind the project, the process and the little tips and tricks. It was like that with this project as well - the little things and the process. This project also got me interested in those straw-like elements I've seen popping up here and there but haven't got to work in my own projects. This proved that more is more!

The picture in the project is me with my darling husband, taken this summer. I'm telling him how lucky I am to have him in my life on weekly basis. We've been now together over 13 years. We've kind of molded together, go so well together nowadays. I'm also happy that he feels the same way, we compliment each other.

Sweet day to you all! Thank you so much for visiting!

Rosy Marie - Matka Luovuuteen

Sweet Saturday! Today I share with you another project I made during the "Matka Luovuuteen" event in August. You can read more about the event in here (link). During the event there was two workshops by Olga Heldwein and two by Aida Domisiewicz. I started last Sunday and Monday with two projects I did during Aida's classes and this weekend I'm continuing with the two projects I did during Olga's workshops.

This frame or doll was made during the "Queen of Steampunk" workshop. Like the workshop description says, we used many mediums and made layers and the end result was a sculpture-like piece.

The workshop was a lot of fun - I loved especially doing her hair! It was also see how Olga uses the different mediums and goes on with the composition. I surprised myself and chose a rosy color palette instead of my favorite teal - turquoise - blue -one. But this project didn't want to be blue, she wanted to be pretty in pink!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Together - Matka Luovuuteen

Hi there! Yesterday I shared my projects from first Aida's workshop during "Matka Luovuuteen" event. Today it's time to share my project from the second workshop, "Dreamy Moments"

Like in all workshops, we played with 13Arts supplies. Even though there's some similarities in Aida's and my normal work, this piece was stepping away from my comfort zone and it was fun!  I really like the dimension this piece has.

The topic of the page is my two daughters, or more about how well they play together. They have almost two years age difference, but usually they find a game they both like and have very little argument when choosing a game or playing it. Naturally there's times when they can't even be in the same room, but those are very rare. Normally they are on the same page with things.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely start to the new week!

Notebook and card - Matka Luovuuteen

Happy Sunday! Like I said yesterday, now I finally share the projects I did during the "Matka Luovuuteen" event in August. You can read more about the event in here (link). During the event there was two workshops by Olga Heldwein and two by Aida Domisiewicz. I'm starting with the projects I did during Aida's workshops and continuing with the ones I created during Olga's workshop.

The notebook and card shown here are done during Aida's workshop "Especially for you". It was fun to play with 13Arts mediums, try them out and see how Aida works and does her composition. You can see the notebook on top there and the card is below. I used my favorite color scheme in the notebook and went with purples and lilacs in the card.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great start to the new week!
