Lost and now found - One BADASS art journal

Life is the best time - art journal spread

Hi there and happy new week! Today I'm sharing an art journal spread that is also connected to my online workshop about double sided adhesive sheet. The workshop is in my mother tongue, Finnish. During the online workshop I first share a bunch of techniques with the product in tag form and then this art journal spread is a bonus project where I use several of the techniques in one project. 

This spread has quite a few elements that I find currently inspiring - collaging and layering, Tim Holtz paperdolls, mixed media and adding different materials and details to a spread. Well, I might add the actual spread as well as it seems that I make more spreads at the moment than just individual pages. That's something that seems to change from time to time, sometimes I make more individual pages and sometimes spreads.

Always be yourself - a tag

Moikka moi and happy new week! Today I'm sharing one more tag from my new online workshop about double sided adhesive sheets and their uses. The workshop is in Finnish, my mother tongue, but if you're interested in attending, please let me know and I'll ask how to go about it! 

The workshop consists of seven videos where I make ten different tags using double sided adhesive sheets in various ways. There's also an eight video, where I make an art journal spread combining the different techniques I have shown in the previous technique videos. The main point about the workshop is to spark inspiration and imagination and encourage you to try different things with the humble but oh so versatile double sided adhesive!

A bird worth two in the bush - tag

Hi there and happy Tuesday! It's again a new week! Today I have a bi-lingual post as this tag is a part of my first online workshop in a Finnish course portal Kädentaitokurssit. The workshop is about double sided adhesive sheet and it's possibilities. The course is done in Finnish, but if you really would like to participate anyway and just watch the tutorial videos, please let me know and I'll investigate if that's possible.

Moikka moi! Tämä tagi on yksi kymmenestä ensimmäisellä suomenkielisellä nettikurssillani (linkki). Kurssin aiheena on monipuolinen kaksipuolinen tarrakalvo ja kurssin seitsemässä tekniikkavideossa käydään läpi erilaisia mahdollisuuksia sen käyttöön. Kurssin tarkoituksena on herätellä inspiraatiota kokeilla tätä tuotetta yhteen jos toiseenkin käyttötarkoitukseen. Kurssilla on lisäksi kahdeksas bonusvideo, jossa käytän aiemmissa tekniikkavideoissa kerrottuja tekniikoita yhteen arttiaukeamaan.

Videoissa lähdetään liikkeelle perusteista ja edetään hieman haastavampiin tekniikoihin, joko toteutuksen tai materiaalien puolesta. Tämä tägi tehdään ihan ensimmäisessä videossa. 

Jokaisesta projektista löytyy aina materiaalilista, joka on suuntaa antava. Olen niihin listannut kaikki omassa tagissa käyttämäni materiaalit, jos haluat tarkistaa vaikka akryylimaalin värin tms. Itse tekniikkaan ei välttämättä tarvita montaakaan materiaalia, mutta tagin viimeistelyyn sitten enemmän. Mutta oma mielikuvitus on ehdottomasti sallittua ja kannustettavaa - missään nimessä ei tarvitse tehdä tageja vaan projektit voi tehdä minkämuotoisena vain tai olla tekemättä taikka tehdä kaikki samaan projektiin! 

Toivottavasti kurssi antaa inspiraatiota ja ahaa-elämyksiä jatkaa kokeiluja!

Tempus Fugit - a mixed media canvas

Moikka and happy new week! Does this canvas look familiar? It might as I blogged the workshop sample some months ago and this one is one I made during the workshop in Nannan Paperi ja Helmi. I'm keeping this workshop also this coming Saturday, this time in Klemmarikellari. 

I call the canvas, as well as the workshop, Tempus Fugit - time flees. Part of the idea behind the piece is also the "memento mori" idea but more in a seize the day type of take rather than just declaring the inevitable death. Make the most of the time now, within reason, as you never know what tomorrow brings. 

In this particular piece, however, I decided to break the clock face apart. There's two reasons - first the shape of the clock was like a warped potato chip as it didn't hold flat while drying. The other reason was more a symbolic one, breaking the time. Although we all know that just by breaking a clock you don't break time itself, but more of a symbolic gesture. A protest against the flow.

Cream Dream - a card and a box

Hi there and happy new month! Can you believe it's already May? Here's a little something that could be used in May, as a Mother's Day present box and card. It's also something I created during a workshop a couple of weeks ago, when I was teaching at Nannan Paperi ja Helmi. 

The topic of the workshop was to create a card and a box for it. We used beautiful A.B.Studio papers during the workshop and topped the pieces with some blooms and pearls.

Tempus Fugit - a new workshop

ENG Hello again! This is the third and final workshop post connected to classes in April. During this week I've been blogging some sample projects for new workshops. I'm keeping these in Finland in April so the posts will be mainly in Finnish. 

This final project is a canvas and the class is divided on two days because of the drying time. We start on Saturday and continue on Sunday. During the class we'll make an assemblage with moulded elements and ephemera and turn it rusty making our own rust paste.

FI Moikka taasen! Tässäpä uusi kurssi numero kolme! Tällä viikolla olen bloggannut uusia kursseja. Mainoksissa olevat päivämäärät ja ajat koskevat Nannan Paperi- ja Helmi -putiikissa pidettäviä kursseja huhtikussa. Ilmoittautuminen kursseille alkaa tulevana sunnuntaina, 12. helmikuuta klo 10. Ilmoittautua voi sähköpostilla osoitteeseen rkovasin@gmail.com. Mukaan kursseille mahtuu kymmenen osallistujaa ja paikat jaetaan ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä. Mahdollisuus muutamaan lisäpaikkaan on olemassa, mikäli kurssit ovat todella suosittuja. Ilmoittautuminen on sitova ja lähellä kurssiajankohtaa perutusta paikasta, mikäli siihen ei saa sijaista, peritään maksu. Jotta kurssit toteutuvat tulee jokaisella kolmella kurssilla olla kuusi osallistujaa - tai yhteensä 18 osallistujaa jaettuna eri kursseille.

Viimeisimpänä, muttei vähäisimpänä esittelyssä on "Tempus Fugit". Kanvas on saanut innoituksensa ajan liidosta ja taustaan tehdäänkin itse ruostepasta. Kurssin aikana tutuiksi tulevat gesso ja gel medium. Kurssi on jaettu kahdelle päivälle kuivumisajan takia. Kyseessä ei siis ole kaksi samaa kurssia lauantaina ja sunnuntaina vaan kurssi alkaa lauantaina ja jatkuu sunnuntaina.  

Kurssin hinta on 40 € sisältäen materiaalit, tiivistetyt kirjalliset ohjeet ja ohjauksen. Osa materiaaleista on kurssikitissä, osa jaettavana kurssin aikana.  Osa kurssikitin rattaista saattaa poiketa tässä kuvatuista.
