Bouquet of tulips - GDT Art by Marlene

Hi there and colorful Thursday! Today I'm sharing more flowers. Yesterday it was a sunflower piece and today I have a big bouquet of tulips. I used a stamp from the "Go Dutch!" collection by Art by Marlene.

As you probably notice, the tulips are colored differently. The reason is that they are colored by four people - my two daughters, my husband and myself. This is actually a card we sent out to my grandfather on his 95th birthday. Unfortunately under the current circumstances we couldn't visit him, but send this card an a photo of the whole family to him. 

To make the card I stamped like a coloring sheet of tulips, divided that between us four and set the brush-tip markers to the table. Then we all got to choose the colors, and in the case of my daughters, the patterns of the tulips and make them as special as we wanted. I love how you're able to pick out those little details in the finished card - like a rainbow tulip with a cloud, pumpkin tulip and a Finnish flag tulip! After coloring I just cut the tulips loose and arranged them in the form of a big bouquet on top of a card base.

Tulip fairies - GDT Art by Marlene

 

Hi there! It's last day of September and soon a new month starts. I have quite a few projects stashed in my drafts that I shall try to get out there during next month. But these little tulip fairies have their spot today! They are made using "Go Dutch!" -collection by Art by Marlene.

These ATCs include some of my favorite elements from the collection - the sun, the tulips and the frame. This time I used the sun as faces of the little butterfly-winged fairies. I colored the stamped elements in fairies with markers, cut them loose and then glued a Art Pebble on top of the sun to get a cabochon-styled piece for the head of the fairies. The body or dress is cut from a piece of patterned paper and then they have tulips as embellishments on their dresses. The cards have a corresponding backing to the dress.

Bright village - GDT Art by Marlene

Hi there! Here's a burst of color in between of vintage toned projects! Somehow these Art by Marlene stamps just scream for happy, vibrant colors and I tend to grab my felt pens to color the images! 

Here I used the two stamp sets from the "Go Dutch!" -collection and created a little dimensional piece. I started by painting a piece of wood using acrylic paints. On top I added some pattern using stencils and a tiny bit of stamping. The main layers are made of the stamped images of the buildings and town from the Art by Marlene stamp sets. 

I used the tiny houses in a row in the background to create a perspective. So the houses in the foreground are bigger and the top most layer is the beautiful tulips. And a happy sun is shining to this bright, colorful town! At least here in Finland the days are starting to be a bit gloomy, so this kind of burst of color is needed!

Hello there and colorful Thursday! Today I'm sharing a project I did during a live show in my blog's Facebook page quite some time ago. You can see more info about the live itself from the announcement post (link).

As you can see, I made an art journal page during the live. I played with the "Go Dutch!" goodies designed by Marlene but used several mediums as well. I collaged elements to the background, added acrylic paints in a couple of ways on top, colored stamped images with markers and created sun rays using a thick texture paste.

Colorful Monday! I left you with a video project on Friday and this Monday I'm picking up where we left - another guest project for "Go Dutch!" collection with a process video. While I said that I wanted a bit muted color palette for the journal page, for this card I returned to the bright colors.

When thinking about the background color for the images I had colored, I thought that orange would fit nicely to the "Go Dutch!" collection. Even though the headers for the collection are with the white and blue tones of the porcelain, Dutch get "oranjegekte" (link) especially during sporting events or Koningsdag. The orange is the traditional color of the Dutch royal family - Orange-Nassau.

Secret Love Letters - GDT Art by Marlene

Moikka and sweet Friday! I've been sharing several process videos over the week in my YouTube channel (link) and here's another one today! So if you don't have anything special planned for the weekend, please take a look! Or even better - subscribe! 

But back to today's project. It's an art journal page I created as a guest designer to "Art by Marlene"'s "Go Dutch!" collection. Several of the projects I've made with the collection are brightly colored, but this time I wanted to have more of a muted, vintage styled palette.

The idea behind the page was a love affair. The young gent in the photo was the other person involved and the other someone in the Netherlands. There was secret love letters passing between the two, maybe hiding them into an old windmill near the place where she lived so he could pick them up... I just love to think of a story line to vintage photos I use in my journaling!

Go Dutch! earrings - GDT Art by Marlene

Moikka again! Today I have a little more "Go Dutch" inspiration for you! Yesterday I shared a journal page, which I'm recreating this Sunday on a Facebook live, but today I have something smaller. It's a pair of earrings I did using the collection. 

The base of the earrings is thick cardboard - actually from a coaster. I cut the pieces using a Sizzix Bigz die (Fruit Shapes 663855) and then painted them yellow and red using just acrylic paints. The face is from one of the "Go Dutch" stamp sets and the tulips from the other. I stamped them on top of white cardstock, colored using brush tip markers and added whites with a Posca marker. Then I added the stamped images to chipboard shapes and coated the pieces using clear nail polish for more durability. 

These were so fun to make and they are super light! I'm not expecting them to last forever because of the base material, but I'm sure they will endure some use. I also find it funny, that after I had assembled the earrings they seemed to resemble matryoshka dolls! I was going for a "girl with a tulip dress" kind of look, but probably the shapes and colors then got me thinking matryoshka. I used to have one with yellow scarf and red dress when I was a child. And that's all fine!

Take me as I am - GDT Art by Marlene

Hello there and wonderful Wednesday! I'm announcing a new Facebook live today, but this time it's not on Prima Marketing's Facebook page I'm on, but my very own! Or that of my blog, that is. So this Sunday, July 19th, I'll be re-doing a page like the one on top using "Go Dutch!" collection from Art by Marlene. Here's the link to the Facebook page (link).

As you can see from the add I made on top, I'm using collaging, acrylic paints and brush tip markers in this page. I mix even some effect paste in there in the form of Icing Paste from Finnabair line. In case you want to create something similar, I've added a materials list of some sort underneath. Where I've mentioned the manufacturer it's just what I'm using and used in this page, there's a lot of variations available.
