Exotic card - Sizzix

The last few days here in Finland have been super hot, almost tropical by our standards. I mean it has been only +30 degrees Celsius, but that's a lot to us who are normally accustomed to about +20 degrees Celsius summer weather!

To kind of match the tropical weather, I'm sharing a card I did for Sizzix using their dies and cardstock. The card combines three different dies or die sets. There's the one with the toucan styled bird, then the flowery background and the sentiment.

I cut all the elements from different colors of cardstock from the Making Essentials set. Then I colored the parts a bit more using watercolors. I chose orange and purple pink for the blooms as well as luscious greens to get that tropical feeling. For the bird, I cut one part loose of the second bird I cut using the die, painted it white with gesso and then added just a hint of color around the eye. I think it turned out quite nice! While painting, I was looking through some toucan photos in the web to get the colors right.

After the elements were dry, I then layered the pieces and adhered them to a white card base. I lefts some of the elements a bit dimensional to heighten the tropical, jungle feel. I finished the piece with some hand drawn lines. If you wish to see more tropical ideas and makes, please visit here (link). There's also some free papers, like the one I used as my backdrop in the first photo of this post!

What also fits the summery feel is Summer Fair Sizzix is having at the moment! There's a new window to be open each day with raffles and more fun stuff. If you haven't joined the fun yet, here's your chance (link)

Thank you for your visit today! I hope you'll enjoy the starting weekend!
