Autumn Dream - 7 Dots Studio

Don't get me wrong - I love summer, but my mind is turned to rustling leaves and the bright colors of autumn already. Today I'm sharing this fall lady in 7 Dots Studio blog. 

In the beginning of the year I challenged myself to paint and make a canvas that was stuck in my head for a long time. Ever since the first "lady canvas" saw the light of day I have been doing variations of the same basic idea. This time I wanted to capture an autumn like feeling. I struggled really hard with the face of the lady but then suddenly had the idea of painting her eyes closed. And it changed the process so much and helped me to create this piece.

I added round items from various collections to her to resemble of curls. A few of the hair locks are also made out of twine. I also cut leaves from the Nature Walk papers and attached them to the windy hair.  I made the leaves by cutting strips of the patterned papers and adding a crease to the center of them. Then I cut the strips into leaves of various sizes. There's also a few blooms there and insects from the Nature Walk collection.

The colors are rich and there's a lot of gold in the piece in honor of the season. To balance the warm and even hot colors I painted the wings of the dragonfly blue. The piece is also inspired by Gustav Klimt and his fabulous paintings.

The lady is painted with acrylic paints. Her features are drawn with a pencil and PITT pens. I also added touches of Gelatos to her face. Her hair is colored with different Tattered Angels products. Like Glimmer Mists, High Impact Paints and Glimmer Glazes. The golden touches are made with glitter and fragments. All the white dots in the canvas are made with a Sharpie pen.
