Bee Adventurous - a pair of cards

Hi there! It's again Friday and that means a new process video! Funnily enough, I thought to use the pumpkin printable I used in the tag I blogged on Wednesday on these too, but then decided against it! The funny thing is that even though these projects follow each other on the blog, there's maybe a year between making them!

As you can see from the pictures here, I made a pair of cards this time. I used a printable to do the background but the rest of the elements are die cut using Sizzix dies. I combined elements from different sets to make these bee cards. Want to see the process video? You can find it here (link) on my YouTube channel.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a nice Friday and sunny weekend! See you again on Tuesday, the first of October!

A wintry night - Kate Crafts

Hello there! It's Friday again and time for another process video! This time it's a tag with a stag! Well, there's also a huge moon there and some other items, but adding them to that first sentence wouldn't have been so fun.

I made this tag using Kate Crafts printables. The background is from another set and the focal point stag from another, but they match when the colors are concerned. I wanted something to highlight the elk and had a moon die cut lying about. It was too small, however, so I decided to make my own moon instead. If you want to see how I made the tag, please watch the video below.

Looking back, it's quite funny how all the video projects so far have been blue toned! I do like blue, but I think it's more about the inspiration for the January videos I have to accuse this time. I was thinking of doing snowy, winter-like projects and somehow that turned into blues and whites, not like silver and white occasionally. Well, maybe the reason is both - my love for blue tones and the winter theme I was going for!

Next week the color scheme will be something else, I promise. And after that, too, as I drew inspiration from Valentine's day in early February. So, you just wait and see, there's more colors coming than just blue and white!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely, hopefully crafty weekend! Stay safe everyone.

Let them eat cake - a pair of cards

Moikka moi! Do you have a sweet tooth? I certainly do! I'm managing very well, if I don't start at all, but when I take one piece of chocolate it usually doesn't end there. These cakes, however, won't taste very well, but look marvelous! The focal images are from KateCrafts printables.

I did these cards during Craftaamo as well. The background on each card has a strip of old book paper and then some medical tape on top. I also added some watercolor and acrylics there. On top I then made a little composition using a printable cake, a doily like cardstock circle and some vellum, on one of the cards. The texts say "Enjoy life" and "Happy moments".

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a sweet day!

Sweet cakes - a set of ATCs

Hi there and happy new week! This week is a bit odd as I decided to add just a couple of blog posts - today and on Friday with a process video. But in a way it's kind of getting you used to a bit scarcer rhythm as I'm thinking to cut back on the posts for next year. That's one of my goals for new year - fewer posts, but more play and art time!

But back to today's post! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas time if you celebrate or just a lovely weekend, if you don't celebrate. We had a wonderful Holiday with family and good food. Somehow these cakes feel fitting to that! They are made using KateCrafts printables (link). I adhered the printed pdf to a sheet of cardstock and then cut the cakes loose so they are a bit sturdier.

The backgrounds are a mess of elements - but still looking good together, I think. The base is a sample sheet from a workshop I was keeping, then some watercolors and inks on top. Lastly I added a stenciled ink layer and some splashes. The embellishments are partly a challenge by Mai (link) and something I had on my work table at the moment. I was making these during Craftaamo and Mai challenged me to use some shaker goodies she had extra. She thought the pink and sweet glittery items would be a tough cookie for me, but little did she know that I had just began this project where they fitted perfectly! The great tulle is also from her, stapled to the cards. The white rings are cut using Cricut - I made those for workshop kits.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely week! Stay safe everyone!

Whatever I want - an art journal page

Hello again! Yesterday I said that I'm sharing two art journal pages with similar elements - a Tim Holtz paper doll and printables. So, here's the other of the two!

As you can see, the composition is also somewhat similar. Even though I love these portrait style paper dolls, they are a bit tricky composition wise. Or rather, I can't help adding something to hide the straight edge if I place the person to the center of the page. In my mind the character needs some kind of frame or edge or decoration to not just be a floating head. Where the lady was hiding in the bushes, this young man is then standing proud on a field of sunflowers, even crowning himself with a flower wreath.

Like in the other page, the background is done by collaging some pieces of printables together with an old book page. On top of the book page I did a photo transfer of the printable. Texts are from a Tim Holtz pad again.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a sunny Wednesday!

If you met my family - an art journal page

Hi there and happy new week! ...well, it's Tuesday already, but still, a new week has started. Today and tomorrow I'm sharing with you a couple of art journal pages. They are somewhat similar as they both have a Tim Holtz paperdoll as the center of attention. The other similarity is the use of Kate Crafts's printables. You can find the Etsy shop here (link).

Like I said in my earlier post, Kate contacted me some time ago and as a result I got access to her printables. And there's SO many! I did a couple of projects but only scratched the surface of the vast amount of the files.

In this page I used the printables in the background collage together with some old book paper pieces. The embellishments around the edge are also printables - first mounted to a piece of cardstock and then cut loose. The embellishments give a look though the character was hiding in a bush, so I chose this piece of text from Tim Holtz's "Snarky" pad: "If you met my family, you would understand". I love to make little stories in my art journal pages or ATCs when I'm using pictures of people. Sometimes they may be obvious to all or then just something for me.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great week!

The world full of wonder - an art journal spread

Moikka moi! It's again Friday and that means a new process video on my YouTube channel. As always, I'm also including that to this post. This time I made an art journal spread using some printables. I hope you like it!

Some time ago, Kate from Katecrafts asked if I'd like to do something with her Etsy shops printables (link) and kindly gave me access to them. Out of this came several projects which I'm gradually blogging. In this spread I used printables for the background and embellishments, but added some mixed media touches and other elements, too. If you want to see how the spread came to be, please see the video below.

As you could see from the video, I mixed some printables to the background. If my memory serves me correctly, they were from the same set, but the mushrooms I used as focal points were from another. Our printer is quite touchy so it's usually best to print to regular paper and then make it sturdier by mounting it to a piece of cardstock. I've never have had a good result with our printer when trying to print to cardstock straight away. But, just remember that's an option too!

I didn't add much details under the mushrooms, just a small swirl of moss green thread to imitate the forest floor. And of course I needed to add some Tim Holtz paperdolls, too. The little boys seemed fun, like little gnomes or fairies.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a happy weekend! Stay safe everyone! Oh, and remember the FB live tomorrow!

Vintage ATCs - GDT Broucek

Happy Saturday!

This post is a special one as I did it as a guest to Broucek blog. Here is the link to the original post (link).

I was so happy when I met Kate in Frankfurt at the CreativeWorld show. I was working there and she came by to say hello. If that wasn’t lovely enough, she also brought to me some of her brand new products to play with! I just adore stamps and stencils as they both are so versatile!

In these vintage styled ATCs I used two stencils and one stamp while doing the backgrounds. I first misted the brick wall pattern to the background and then added the gears using a rust paste. After that I tinted the whole cards with tea and after drying added some random stamping with a wreath stamp.

On top I then layered some stickers and die cuts to make the focal points. The embellishments include some wonderful old buttons I got in an ATC swap so they are kind of returning to the circulation!

Thank you for this opportunity Kate and wishing all of you all the best!

Ps. Some more happy news - my project made it to the cover of the new Ihana magazine! I'm thrilled and honored!
