5 days in life of... (5)

For the last four days I've shared daily a post about our lives. Today is the fifth and last day. If you want to read the previous posts, please use this tag (link). I suggest you start with Day 1 as it has some info that gives more sense to following days. But welcome to our Sunday!

What a lovely morning - our girls are at home! It was so sweet to wake up when they climbed to our bed and snuggled. After chatting a little there hugging, each of them by my side we got up and turned on the morning cartoons. They were happy to see some cartoons for a while as there's no TV at my parent's cottage. Usually they don't watch it much - just morning cartoons occasionally and a short animation before turning in at evening, before my or my husband reads the bedtime story.

While the kids watched the cartoons I took out their drawers of clothes and started go through their wardrobe. I have been planning to do that for a week now, but finally got the urge to do it. And it was a good thing I did! Most of the warmer clothes in my older one's drawers could be moved straight to her little sister and most of the stuff in little sister's drawers gathered in bags to be taken to a friend with younger kids. I also got a confirmation to my notion that we need to get the older one a couple of new hoodies and a pair of jeans. No hurry there with weather like this, but they are needed when the autumn comes.

After the breakfast the clock had turned nine and I could put the washing machine on. So I loaded it and then continued going through the kids's clothes. Even though it's Sunday, I really needed to get a lot of washing done! I decided to wash all our duvets and pillows so it's quite a few machines as only one duvet fits into the machine at once.

I also changed our sheets. Most of our sheets are black or white or mix of both, but last Christmas I bought a dark purple one as it was in double sale. As I had put the pillows to be washed, I then moved the big pillows we usually use just to make the bed to usage and shall be washing them when we get the actual ones back.

As the temperatures just get climbing, we had some ice tea and cakes and the kids got ice cream. Both of us parents were spoiling them all weekend along - it was clear that we had missed them so much! After that the kids started to play with the doll house and the Legos. It was splendid to hear them chatter along in their room. The house was so quiet without them! While the girls were playing I typed in these everyday posts and then started to prepare lunch.

Have you noticed that when it's hot you don't get hungry? So I just cooked some potatoes and we had cold ham and tomatoes with them. Easy and delicious! As the desert we ate some fresh pineapple. After dinner it was the kids's nap time. Or rather the younger one's nap time, but they actually both fell asleep while listening a story.

While the kids were taking their nap I recorded one video and did two layouts. When they woke up, we had a quick snack and then waited a bit for the washing machine to stop and headed for the nearby park. Kids love it there - to run, to climb, to swing, to build sand cakes... We were outside until dinner time and then headed home.

The kids went into the shower as they were covered in sand from head to toe and my husband watched over them there. I made crepes and a filling to go in them. Even though we all were hungry and I only made a half a liter dough for the crepes, we ended up having them as the evening snack with jam as well.

After the evening snack it was time for the little ones to go to bed. I read the bedtime story and then finished the day with editing some photos.

So, there's five days of my life! Thank you for the challenge Marsha! As the fifth person I would like to challenge Mumkaa to take part in the everyday posts! I love the glimpses of her craft space and her attitude to life is so joyous! Thank you all for joining me today!

5 days in life of... (4)

Continuing to post the ordinary days of our lives. You can see the previous three posts from this tag (link). I suggest you start with Day 1 as it has some info that gives more sense to following days. So this is the story what we did last Saturday.

As it was just us two at home in the morning, we took it easy. I spent most of the morning hours preparing blogposts and timing them. My husband made some music.

I usually try to time the posts at least a few days ahead, but lately I've been slipping from that. I love the easiness when the posts are timed and ready to go! No stress about remembering to type them in during the day.

We were invited to my cousin's house for a family get-together so after the easy morning it was time to get ready for the party! As the weather was still very summery, I decided to wear my black summer dress with a belt. I also changed my glasses to contacts so I could have my sunglasses. I usually prefer glasses to contacts but during summertime I wear contacts every now and then as it's much easier to wear the sunglasses then.

As we hadn't eaten any breakfast yet we left a tad early and visited a coffee shop on the way. We enjoyed a pleasant late breakfast there. We also went to the store to get the stuff we agreed bringing to the party. Everyone was bringing something and I first thought of taking something baked goodies but as I found out everyone else was already doing the same, I said we could bring the drinks. As there were plenty of children and young people there, I just brought a whole bunch of mineral waters and juices.

Then we hopped to the car and drove to the location. The journey took less time that we had thought so we were the first ones there. Luckily soon after my parents arrived with our little cutie pies! Oh, we  had missed them! It was great to notice that they had missed us, too, but not extensively. They enjoyed being close to us parents during the party, but there were no tears or such.

It was great meeting the family! There was my aunt and uncles and my cousins. When we were younger, we used to meet more often, but now that every one has a family of their own, we get together more seldom. It was so great to see everyone and to talk with them - what's going on in everyone's life and such.

While the kids enjoyed playing with their second cousins, it was obvious that they were becoming more and more tired. Most of all my first born. So we decided to say our goodbyes and headed for home. We thought it would be good to be at home before bed time so that the kids could tell more about the week they spent in my parent's summer house and get the feel of their own room again. On the way we stopped to get some food. Silly of us parents not to fill the fridge previous night, actually, but I guess we just didn't think straight then.

We ate first at home and talked about our week. I had bought the girls some new Legos and they wanted to build them straight away. My 5-year-old really enjoys building different structures with the pieces, but usually my 3-year-old just wants someone else to build a toy for her and then she plays with it. But now she builded the whole little bear structure herself with some guidance! We were so proud of them both - the older one building the monkey tree all by herself and the younger one actually building herself.

The kids started playing with their new Legos and then added the older ones to the mix and then turned into playing their favorite game: home. The other one was mommy and the other one the child. After letting them play some time it was quite over their bed time and so we took a quick evening snack and then tucked the girls in. The girls had decided earlier that they wanted daddy to read the bedtime story so I just kissed and hugged them, wished a good night and then returned to the living room.

I spent the rest of the night going through my mails, updating the Facebook and also blogging. As a little treat to myself, I watched a few Kasia's videos before turning in.

So that was what my Saturday was like! As a part of the challenge I should name a person to do the same every day. That is a person to document her 5 ordinary days and share them in her blog. I'm writing "her" as I already have a person in mind: Taru! She's just a fabulous person and has always so much going on so I think it would be wonderful to know how she does it!

5 days in life of... (3)

I've been sharing what I did last week, challenged my Marsha. Here's the link to my Wednesday and here's to Thursday. Today I'm sharing you the last Friday. So welcome to take a little peek into my life!

I guess I'm totally repeating myself when I tell you that the morning was hot hot hot! As my shift started at 10 and I slept late, I had to start getting ready for work right away. I took a quick shower and then got dressed. I also put on some of my newest perfume. I purchased that on the ferry when we headed home from Stockholm. It's my favorite at the moment!

Like the two days earlier I took the tram to work. Sometimes I take the bus, too, but as I had only money in my travel card not days, I preferred tram as it's cheaper. My monthly card expired just a few days before my vacation so I decided to recharge it with money instead of time. I have no words for this in English, so I hope you get the idea!

There were a bunch of us in work who were starting their vacation on Friday so the mood was accordingly. I was trying to finish a few cases I had but unfortunately had to give them to a co-worker as I didn't get the info before it was my time to go home. When we gathered to the lobby to sign off from work we discussed what we were planning to do in the evening - there were talk of caipirinha and mojitos. Everyone was so ready to have something else in their mind for a few weeks than work and the issues there!

I have to say that I was feeling quite happy when I closed my locker and headed home. I had some post to collect from the post office so I needed to take a little detour. While walking to the bus center, I did a stop in a big store and got myself a treat for the evening - a long drink. Then I traveled to the post and collected an envelope there - it contained a wonderful ATC from Denisa. I'm so happy about the ATC swaps! Thank you all who have swapped with me!

When I got home my husband was there already so I made a quick FB update and then we spent rest of the evening snuggling on the couch watching movies. Although we both missed the girls tremendously (even though we spoke to them daily), it was quite nice to have a date night kind of thing for every evening during the week.

As the part of the challenge is to nominate someone to document their 5 ordinary days, too, I'm picking Anski today! She has such a great style and I love her "dress of the day" posts!

5 days in life of... (2)

I started posting what I did a week ago yesterday, challenged by Marsha. You can read the first post here (link). Today I continue with last Thursday, 24.7.

Hello Thursday! My shift started at noon, so I had a lazy morning. I took my time to get up from bed and then went to take a shower - it had been a hot night and a hot morning. Although I like sunny and warm weather, this +30 degrees Celsius hotness is getting to me. I need to remember to drink or otherwise I start feeling dizzy.

I made myself a pot of tea and then cleaned up after the creative night last night. Usually I put all my supplies back to their places right away, but as I knew that I would have some time to craft the following morning and even more because the kiddos weren't at home, I left some of the supplies lying.

I also took photos of the projects created last night and while doing so a friend dropped by. We were chatting and drinking tea until it was time to head for work. So no craftiness during the morning. Oh well!

Same as yesterday, I had the music playing while sitting in the tram. Then off to change the work clothes again and start my day. I had one break during my shift and then headed home.

My husband was away for the night, meeting some old colleagues so I had the place all to myself. Funnily that left me just running around like a headless chicken! I didn't get anything done! So I decided to call it a day and instead read the over 300 posts I had in my Feedly list. Oh, and I washed some laundry, too.

While reading the posts I also pinned some of the amazing creations I saw and added some links to my Facebook. I also did some of my commenting duties and cast my votes for the just closed Craft Stamper challenge. As the night before, I finished my day with some CSI commenting.

Thank you again for joining in! As I told yesterday, part of the challenge is to nominate someone every day to do the same - document five ordinary days. My second nominee is Tusia! I love her cheery, positive attitude and as the master mind behind my favorite scrapbooking paper company, 7 Dots Studio, it would be great to take a peek into her life!

5 days in life of... (1)

Marsha challenged me to document five days of my life. Just ordinary, everyday days. I started documenting on Wednesday, the 23rd July. I really like the idea of documenting the everyday! Although I must say that the end of last week wasn't the most ordinary one... But anyway, here's what my Wednesday was like!

Yay! Just three work days and the vacation starts! Today I had a morning shift so I just got up, made myself ready and headed for work. It's going to be a hot day because it's already +25 degrees Celsius at 7.30 am. So I slip my summer dress on (it's black, like most of my clothes) and chose my gladiator sandals to go with it.

I take the tram like I do every morning. While sitting there, watching the streets go by, I listen some music and check the Instagram and Twitter, too. This morning I also post a few photos to my account. Off the tram and off to chance to my work attire.

I'm at work early which is a good thing as I immediately notice the day isn't going to be boring by no means. There's a huge amount of work waiting for me. I work, I have a quick lunch break, and continue working. The clock ticks 30 minutes overtime when I check out. I leave myself a note what to do first when I'm back tomorrow. I've worked almost full time since last August, I currently have a 30-hour contract.

As me and my husband are working in July and the kids have time off the kindergarten, they are staying with my parents in their summer house. And as there's just two adults home, we don't cook. It's silly. Before we moved together we hardly ever cooked for ourselves but always for each other. Nowadays we don't cook when the kids aren't at home but just go out and eat or grab something quick to prepare. So I head to the store and pick a salad for myself and something for my husband, too (he doesn't care for salads). Then to home and after "how was your day" we both start working with our hobbies - he creates music, I finish my article for an upcoming number of Craft Stamper.

After finishing and proofreading the article, I then sent it away to Alix, the editor in chief. Then I timed a few blog posts and started editing photos of September projects. I usually tend to work at least a month ahead so if something unexpected happens, there's a time to get everything fixed before the deadline. I even got to cross one thing of my "to-do" list after editing the photo, adding it to the reveal post and Facebooking it. Wohoo! That's always such a joy!

As I had been sitting more or less put for quite some time in front of the screen I decided it was time to get moving, so I fetched my salad and decided to have a break eating it in front of the telly. When the kids are at home we never do that, but as it was just us two, we sat on the couch watching some series while eating.

After food I wanted to craft something, so I took out my acrylic paints and prepared one DT work for upcoming month. It was the last one I had for August. Now I only need to edit the photos and I can move on to September projects.

A thing I have been meaning to do a long time is to go through the "My Details" workshop. I mostly do pages about my two girls, but I've been trying to do more pages about me, too, so this workshop was perfect! A lot of ideas how to document me and history of me! I took the first topic and made a page about it, too. Loved all the ideas it spurred into my head!

As the night was still young, I started to go through the photos that had arrived - my order from Ifolor. I arranged them to different piles. We have three photo albums, or actually three categories of photo albums as there are quite a few filled with photos already. Both of the girls have an album of their own and then there's another for the family pictures. Then I actually have a fourth one, too, for the photos I plan to scrap. But as that album is in a constant change, I don't list is as an album but it's rather a way to store the photos for a while before they turn into pages.

While I was going through the photos and even before that, we put Teema channel on. It's like this art / history channel with documents, interesting movies and music. This time it had an opera playing, "Isän tyttö" (Daddy's Girl) by Olli Kortekangas. What can I say - it was intriguing, very contemporary, interesting scenery and costumes and reminded me about Chekhov.

I finished the day with some CSI comments, tea and brie. When I was still on the CSI DT I missed some of the last files when comments in the gallery are concerned. I've kept those on my list and sworn that I get every single layout in those albums commented sooner or later. I finished a few albums with tea and lovely brie to keep me company.

Thank you for joining today! I hope you liked reading about my day! Part of the challenge is to nominate someone every day to do the same - document five ordinary days. So my fist nominee is Minna! She's done a swell job with the new blog and I think this kind of series of post would fit her perfectly!
