Rollin' - Wycinanka GDT

Welcome! Yesterday I showed the steps to create the rusty gears and here's the layout using them. This layout is really, really dimensional. There's gears, washers and different meshes, all from Wycinanka and treated with different mediums to resemble metal. 

The topic is creativity and the journaling reads: "Creativity is like a machine - oiled and in use it's just rolling and rolling and rolling!"

Tervetuloa! Eilen näytin vaihe vaiheelta ruosteisten rattaiden teon ja tänään vuorossa on sivu, jossa nuo rattaat ovat. Se on todella, todella kolmiulotteinen! Sivussa on rattaita, prikkoja ja verkkoja, kaikki Wycinankan chipboard-kuvioita, jotka on käsitelty eri tavoin muistuttamaan metallia. 

Sivun aiheena on luovuus ja miten se tietyllä tavalla muistuttaa suurta konetta tai rattaistoa. Käytössä ja sopivasti öljyttynä kaikki sen kun vaan toimii!

Rusty gears tutorial

Hello everyone! It's time for another tutorial! I made this tutorial for Wycinanka last month when I was a GDT. It's about how to make rusty gears using the gear chipboard from Wycinanka. 

Hei! Tänään on taas tutoriaalin aika. Tämä tosin on tehty jo jonkin aika sitten ja on jo ilmestynyt Wycinankan blogissa viime kuussa, jolloin olin vierailevana suunnittelijana. 

1. Paint the gears orange with Distress Stain. You can of course use other products, too, but a Stain is so easy to use.

1. Maalaa rattaat oransseiksi Distress Stainilla. Voit toki käyttää muitakin tuotteita, mutta Stainit ovat helppokäyttöisiä ja niillä on nopea värjätä isompiakin alueita.

2. Tone the bright orange a bit down with light brown ink. I used Distress Ink Tea Dye in mine. 

2. Rauhoita oranssia pintaa hieman vaalean ruskealla mustella. Käytin omissa rattaissani Distress Ink sävyä Tea Dye.

3. Add more layers to the gears by using black and dark brown ink. This creates more depth to the gears as well as creates a rusty feeling. Do not cover the whole surface but only apply touches of ink here and there.

3. Tee lisää mustekerroksia mustalla ja tumman ruskealla musteella. Tämä antaa rattaisiin lisää syvyyttä ja ulkonäköä. Älä peitä koko pintaa musteilla vaan lisää aavistus sinne ja tänne.

4. Embossing time! Cover the gears with watermark ink and then add different embossing powders to the surface. You could only use transparent as there's different color layers underneath, but I thought to add a bit texture and used rust and copper embossing powders, too. I first applied the tinted powders like pinches of salt to the surface and then couated the rest of the gear with transparent powder.

4. Embossaus aika! Peitä rattaat ensin vesileimamusteella. Voit käyttää vain yhtä, läpinäkyvää, kohojauhetta tai tehdä rattaisiin tekstuuria useammalla jauheella. Käytin itse sekä kuparin että ruosteen väristä jauhetta omissani kirkkaan lisäksi. Värilliset jauheet lisäsin yksitellen, pieninä määrinä, kuin suolaa olisin napannut hyppysellisen ja lopuksi peitin pinnan kokonaan kirkkaalla jauheella.

5. To really make the little cracks and surface texture show I then rubbed a black ink to the gears. The ink shall stay on the valleys of the surface and thus make the texture show even more.

5. Jotta rattaiden tekstuuri näkyisi vielä paremmin, hieroin niiden pintaan lopuksi mustaa mustetta. Muste jää pinnan epätasaisuuksien pohjalle ja näyttää tekstuurin paremmin.

Two cards for Wycinanka

Last month I had the privilege to be guest designing for Wycinanka. Here's two cards I made for them. The idea behind them was to use the embellishments I have stashed together with the lovlies from Wycinanka. 

I started to make the cards by spraying the base with mist. While it dried I gathered some embellishments, tags and stickers that went with the chosen color and after the base was dry, started layering them to the cards.

Viime kuussa minulla oli ilo olla Wycinankan vieraileva tekijä, GDT. Tässä on korttipari, jonka tein yritykselle. Ajatuksena oli käyttää varastoissa olevia tageja, koristeita ja tarroja pois ja koristaa kortit Wycinankan chipboard-kuvioilla.

Aloitin korttien teon mistailemalla korttipohjalle väriä. Sillä välin kun misti kuivui, keräilin varastostani sopivan värisiä tarvikkeita ja kun pohja oli kuiva, aloin kerrostaa koristeita sille.

My Little Pony minialbum

I'm guest designing for Wycinanka this month. This minialbum is created for them. 

My girls got some My Little Ponies as presents and they want to know their names. The new ones have their name on the packaging, but the older ones were pass-down, do we didn't know their names. I looked the names form the internet, but kept forgetting some constantly. So one afternoon my 4-year-old and me took photos of all the ponies and then I created this minialbum. I used the Wycinanka chipboard as embellishments and added the name of each pony with Dymo. After typing all the names, I now remember them. But if I forget, it's easy to check them from this mini.

Olen tässä kuussa vierailijana Wycinankan blogissa. Tässä on minialbumi, jonka tein heille. 

Tytöt saivat lahjaksi My Little Poneja ja halusivat heti tietää niiden nimet. Uusien nimet löytyvät kätevästi paketista, mutta osa poneista oli vanhempia, joten niiden nimistä ei ollut mitään tietoa. Internetistä ne löytyivät lopulta, mutta unohdin jatkuvasti muutaman ponin nimen, joten keksin tehdä minialbumin. Kuvasimme yhdessä esikoisen kanssa kaikki ponit ja sitten tein albumiin niiden nimet Dymolla. Koristeet ovat Wycinankan. Albumin teon jälkeen olen ponien nimet aika hyvin muistanutkin, mutta nyt ne on myös helppo tarkistaa, jos unohtuvat!

Easter Crafting

Hello! Here's another Easter layout, this time with a video. As you might remember, I'm guest designing to Wycinanka this month and all the creations for that have been done months ago, but I wanted to make something extra. So I used the chipboard shapes as stamps and created this page. I think those gears look a little like suns. The picture are of my two sunshines, my daughters painting Easter decorations.

Heippa! Pääsiäistunnelmissa tänä sunnuntaina, tällä kertaa videonkin kera. Kuten ehkä muistatte, olen tässä kuussa GDTnä Wycinankan blogissa. Tätä pestiä varten kaikki sivut on tehty jo kuukausia sitten, mutta halusin tehdä jotain eksraa vielä. Joten käytin chipboard-koristeita leimoina ja tein tämän sivun. Minusta nuo rattaat näyttävät ihan pieniltä auringoilta. Kuvissa on kaksi aurinkoani, tytöt tekemässä pääsiäiskoristeita.

Sunny Mother's Day!

I have the privilege of being a guest designer for Wycinanka chip board company this month. If you follow Wycinanka's blog, you have already seen these cards there as well as a minialbum I made for them. Wycinanka offers a large variety of different chipboards, but also stamps and I even found patterned papers when I last visited their site.

I was feeling romantic, when I created these two cards. First I painted the chipboard shapes with gesso and let the paint dry. After that I added a bit shading using Distress Ink and rubb it to the edges. Then I made the polka dot paper using a Wycinanka stamp. I stamped the dots to a pale grey paper with pink Distress Ink and treated the edges of the papers with brown ink. To assemble the cards I added some ephamera I had in my stash.

Iloista äitienpäivää! 

Minulla on ilo olla vierailijana Wycinanka - nimiselle chipboard yritykselle tässä kuussa. Jos seuraatte Wycinankan blogia, olette jo nähneet nämä kortit sekä yhden yritykselle tekemäni minialbumin. Wycinankan valikoimissa on suuri määrä erilaisia chipboard kuvioita, mutta yritys valmistaa myös leimoja ja viime visiitilläni nettisivuille huomasin, että valikoimiin on tullut myös kuviopapereita. 

Minulla oli romanttinen olo näitä kortteja tehdessäni. Ensin maalasin chipboard-kuviot gessolla ja annoin maalin kuivua. Sitten käsittelin kuvioiden reunoja Distress Inkillä. Polkkapallopaperit leimailin itse käyttämällä Wycinankan leimasinta. Korttien kokoamiseen käytin erilaisia koristeita ja papereita, joita laatikoistani löysin.

Chocolate

Sweet Friday everyone! I want to share this treat with you today, made for the chipboard company Wycinanka. You can see more of my works in a few months time in their blog as well as in here!

First of all I added some texture to the background using masking tape and gesso. Then I detached the flag pieces from the chipboard piece and used the piece as a stencil. I sprayed brown mist and colored the flags with the same color. I also drew the flag shapes using a black marker. Then I layered some chipbiard pieces, a doily and self-made patterned paper underneath the photo. The two frames are painted with gesso and then lighty treated with ink. The golden polka dot vellum is made by using Wycinanka polka dot stamp and golden embossing powder.

Iloista perjantaita! Tämän sivun tein chipboard kuvioita valmistavalle yritykselle nimeltä Wycinanka. Muutaman kuukauden päästä heidän blogissaan ja täällä Paperiliittimessäkin näkyy lisää chipboardeilla tehtyjä askarteluja.

Tämän sivun työstämisen aloitin lisäämällä taustalle hieman tekstuuria. Käytin siihen maalarinteippiä ja gessoa. Sitten irroittelin lippunauhan viirit isommasta palasesta ja käytin jäljelle jäänyttä palaa sabluunana. Mistasin kuvioita ruskealla mistillä ja värjäsin itse viirit samalla värillä. Piirtelin taustalle myös muutamia viirejä mustalla kynällä. sitten kerrostin päällekäin chipboardkuvioita, kakkupaperin ja itse tehtyä kuultopaperia. Sivussa olevat kaksi kehystä on ensin maalattu gessolla ja sitten reunoja on käsitelty musteella. Kultainen pallokuvioinen kuultopaperi on tehty käyttäen Wycinankan palloleimaa ja kultaista kohopulveria.
