-49 - Sizzix

Heippa! Today I have a step by step tutorial for you! Which ones you prefer - the step by steps with pictures or a process video one?

The step by step is of this layout I did using Sizzix dies and 7 Dots Studio papers. I hope you like it! If you want to get started right away, please scroll a bit down.

The layout is about my grandparents. They are not in the photo, as it's a vintage die cut, but they could be. They married at 1949 and were married 45 years before my grandmother passed away. I miss her still and would have loved for her to see my two daughters, her great grandchildren.

I was inspired to do the layout by the new dies. You can see all the new ones here (link). I especially liked the "Cutout Blossoms" and turned them into a flower stencil. If you want to see, how the page was made, please see the steps below!

Step 1. Using the "Cutout Blossoms" die set and stencil film, make yourself a flower stencil.  Use the stencil to apply embossing ink to the background and emboss the patterns using mixture of embossing powder - gold, silver and clear. Use the two metallics the most and just a hint of the clear one. Heat the powders.

Step 2. Add a hint of color to the background using watercolors. Color around the areas you've patterned in previous step.

Step 3. Make yourself a foam stamp using thin EVA foam and the "Organic" die. Ink the stamp using Distress Ink (or other water reactivated ink), spray with some water and stamp to the background. Go around the area you've already been working with.

Step 4. Start making your main composition. Cut some patterned papers and arrange behind your photo. Attach the layers using a stapler. Adhere the layers to the background using foam dots. Die cut a clock out of cardboard or chipboard using "Timekeeper" die and incorporate it to the layers behind the photo. Adhere the photo on top using foam squares.

Step 5. Decorate your page. Cut some butterflies out of patterned paper using  "Tattered Butterfly" die. Fold the butterflies so that their wings are a bit dimensional. Add the butterflies to the page together with some metal embellishments and flowers.

Step 6. Finish your page with a title, journaling and some crystal stickers. I cut my title with "Brush Numbers" die set as I used a year as my title.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hoped you liked this stepped layout!

Thank you for introducing me to new techniques of making stencil with dies, mixing embossing powders and making a stamp from foam using a die. I prefer watching a video but realize they take a lot of time and effort that would be better spent making more memories with your loved ones. Sad that you didn't have a real photo of them. I wish my grandparents could have met my husband, children and grandchildren so understand your feelings.
