Sunshine! Spring has a lot of card worthy celebrations - birthdays, Easter or just opportunities to send a hand made hello. I made this birthday card using a couple of different dies from Sizzix. You can find them all in the Sizzix site (link) or from the list below.
I started by cutting the sunflower out of watercolor paper and the letters out of thin sheet of cork. The cork letters I used to make a background and I colored the sunflower parts to make the flower. The jar is from another set, called "Garden Floral". I cut it out of vellum to get that see-through, glass-like look. I highlighted the flower by backing it with a circle cut from a piece of patterned paper. Lastly I mounted the card to a piece of patterned paper and then to a brick red colored cardstock. If you'd like to do something similar, but are new to die cutting, Sizzix has a site to get you started! Here's the link to the page (link).
March is a month for makers and that's why Sizzix is asking crafters and everyone to make a pledge. It's a campaign Sizzix is having during Mach to celebrate makers. The goal is to make rather than buy the things. That's never a bad idea in this product filled world! You can join in and make a pledge of your own. Sizzix is sharing inspiration and makes in the website during the month. You can see the makes and read more about #makingthepledge here (link). If you have the drive to make something but are lacking the perfect paper for it, there's a stock of free printables available at Sizzix site, too. You can see all of them here (link).
Have a sunny day and great start to the weekend! Ta ta for now!
