Hello and happy Monday! Today I have an easy tutorial for you for a little home decor piece. The board is from Michaels as well as the mediums used in the project. You can see Finnabair mediums they have in their selection here (link).
Gesso and gel medium are wonderful mediums to make home décor projects. For this décor board I used gel medium as the main adhesive and gesso to make the project vintage and shabby. And can you guess what I used as the colorant? Title says it all - tea! Please see the step by step underneath to find out how the project was made.

Step 1. Adhere a piece of cheese cloth to the board using White Heavy Gesso. This primer will hold light items and also provide a great surface to colors coming on top.
Step 2. Make your composition using an old photo, some paper flowers and old buttons. Use the 3D Gloss Gel as the adhesive. Adhere a couple of layers of cardboard underneath the photo for a raised effect.
Step 3. After everything is securely in place, color the flowers and the cheese cloth using tea. The adhesive might need to dry overnight. The flowers might loose their shape when wet, but you can reshape them after they are dry.
Step 4. Finish your décor project with some thread and gesso. Brush the gesso lightly using very little paint. Go over the edges of the board and also touch lightly the flowers and buttons.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you find inspiration from the tutorial!
