Love you to the Moon and back - Sizzix

Father's Day is around the corner in some parts of the world and I made a couple of cards inspired by the free papers over at Sizzix! Here's a link to see the papers (link). There's several patterns and also a "die cut sheet" which you can easily get greetings and banners from.

As Father's day isn't until November here in Finland, I made these cards so that they can be used otherwise, too. I also took a couple of step by step pictures while working on the cards so please see underneath, if you want to see how they were made!

Materials for the cards:

Sweet Stamp Shop: Lil Moon
Ranger: Distress Oxide Faded Jeans
Ranger: Distress Ink Hickory Smoke
Ranger: Archival Ink Jet Black
Wow Embossing Powder: Embossing Ink
Wow Embossing Powder: Easter Sparkle Embossing Glitter
white, pale yellow, pale grey and dark grey cardstock

Step 1. First cut the items needed for the cards. Use the "Framelits Circles" to cut a couple of moons. Then cut the helicopter and airplane from pale grey cardstock using the "Cityscapes, Commute" die set. Also cut a couple of banners using the "Little Bunting" dies and the printed free papers. Don't throw the piece of the grey cardstock away!

Step 2. Use a moon stamp and stamp the circles with it. Use an inking tool and inks and ink some dark blue sky to a card sized piece of white cardstock. Ink the piece so it fades to white leaving the other end white. Use the cut piece of cardstock and ink an airplane and a helicopter through it. These will work as a shadow for the die cut. Also ink the edges of the cards.

Step 3. Stamp a greeting to the corner of the card with black ink. Use embossing ink and pale yellow embossing powder with a star stamp to create a starry sky. Ink the helicopter and airplane parts and assemble the machines. Ink also the edges of the moons and the banners.

Step 4. Combine the pieces together. Use foam squares to mount the helicopter and airplane as well as the moons. Attach the banners with double sided tape or paper glue.

Step 5. Cut a bit bigger piece out of the printed free paper than the card and a little bigger still piece of dark grey cardstock. Attach the layers on top of each other with double sided tape. Ready!

Dies make card making really fast! These two were done in no time and I actually did even a third one, which you can see at the bottom of the post. I used the free papers for that one too and the same "Cityscapes, Commute" dies. The cardbase is made using a heart die.

Hope you like the cards and find the step by step helpful! Have a great day!
