Love is all around - 7 Dots Studio

Happy Thursday! This layout is the first of my two monthly projects for 7 Dots Studio. This time I created two cards and a layout using the same idea – making the poppy pattern from the “Homegrown” paper into an embellishment. The cards hold the flowers cut from the 6x6 sheet and the layout has the 12x12 version. You can see the original post here (link) in the company blog.

This layout is about my younger daughter and my father’s dog. Both of my girls love animals, but whereas my older one is a bit drawn back and cautious, my younger one is more open with her love and affection. In the picture she’s hugging the young dog. Even though the picture doesn’t show the dog so well, I thought her expression was so sweet and wanted to scrapbook the shot anyway.

In both projects, the layout and the cards, I colored the flower motif with watercolors. After the first layer of the paint had dried I then added some details using watercolor pencils and then cut the pattern loose. In both projects the flowers are adhered using foam dots here and there to create an idea of depth.

Thank you for your visit today! Please come back tomorrow to see the cards!
