Grungy birthday card - Scrap FX

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you! Here's a birthday card I did for a co-worker when he turned sixty and our team wanted of course to remember the occasion. The card needed to have a hard rock feeling, it needed to have some lamps in it and of course the important number. It was only after we had given the card to the recipient that I learned that he always has a SLR camera with him and is not only to rock music but also to taking photographs!

The base of the card is a piece of chipboard. I knew that I would include heavy items to it, like the lamps, so the background needed to be heavy enough to take the weight. Next I layered all the bits and pieces on top using gel medium as the glue and then added the colors. I went with a dark and metallic look as I thought that would be best choice for him and for that rock-kind of look.

I embellished the card using several different chipboard shapes - can you spot the stars, the wire or two keys? Among the chippies there's also jeans buttons, snap fasteners and other metal embellishments.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely Saturday!

I love this. Thank you for sharing it with us. I always struggle with masculine pieces.
