Hello! Yesterday I shared my first project with C'est Magnifique February kit, here's the second one. They are part of my final guest designs for C'est Magnifique. I created three layouts and one book cover in total so there's going to be a few layout posts still. If you wish to take a look at the kit and the paper add-on, please visit C'est Magnifique store (link) or blog (link)!
For this second craft I created a notebook or an art journal cover. I gave the piece to my daughters after taking the photos so I'm guessing it's going to be filled with drawings and stories (in their own language and writing, so they can be read in a number of ways).
I started by adhering a piece of patterned paper to the backs of the cover. I thought to have the leaf on the cover showing partly but ended up covering it almost totally. Using gel medium I then added the bird resins, metallic embellishments and pieces of chipboard from the kit to the cover. I also used some items from my own stash to make the design fuller. Then I added some of the sand paste to the cover as well and let it dry.
After the mediums were dry, I covered the cover with white gesso and then started coloring it using the watercolor from the kit and a mist of my own. I was aiming for a watercolor styled look so I kept the paint and mist kind of smudgy. On top of the color I then added touches with the metallic rubs and also doodled with the marker. To add some bling to the cover I finished it by adhering the beads in there.
Besides the items from the kit I also used a purple mist, some paper roses, a bottle cap and five pieces from an old bracelet.
Thank you for your visit! Tomorrow I have something exciting to share!
