Ok, here we go again! This is my second layout for the 7 Dots Studio challege "Nature Object". I deleted my first link up from the site as you can read from this previous post (link). 

This time I used sand in my layout to make the swirls seen at the background of the layout. On top of those I gathered baking paper, 7 Dots Studio goodies and some embellishments. The journaling is about my sandals which I adore. My hubby bought them to me a few years back.

Tällä kertaa käytin hiekkaa sivussa. Tein sillä nuo taustalla näkyvät pyörteet. Niiden päällä on leivinpaperia, 7 Dots Studion papereita ja koristeita sekä muutamia muitakin koristeita. Tarinointi kertoo noista ihanista sandaaleista, jotka mieheni osti minulle pari vuotta takaperin.

How to keep reading?

As the magical July 1st is closing, I thought I blog this post again just to make sure I don't loose any of you wonderful readers! It's such a joy that you read my blog and leave comments!

I guess you have heard the news that Google reader is retiring and the service ends July 1st. So I thought to make a post about how you can still follow my blog after that.

You can start reading my blog via Feedly or Bloglovin'. I've already noticed some of you change over to Blogloving and recently found out that there's more than 370 subsciber in Feedly for my blog. Wow! Thank you all! 

You can stay in touch via other media, too. As you might know, my blog has also a Facebook page and I have created a Twitter account some time ago. I link my blog posts to the Facebook site, but I also share interesting links, DT calls and my tweets there not to mention the traditional status updates. If you want to see sneaks on what I'm currently working on, you can get a grasp from either Twitter, where I tweet pictures of my creations, or from the Facebook site as the tweets are shared there, too.

If you like my videos, you should then subscribe my Youtube channel. I'm currently more into "from start to finish" videos, but there's some technique videos there too. Recently I've done the techniques in step-by-step tutorial form, so keep checking the blog if you like them. I use different techniques in my layouts and they are shown in the "from start to finish" videos.

I also have online galleries at Flickr, Two Peas and Scrapbook.com. I try to keep them all updated so you can follow the one you prefer. If pinning is your thing, then you should check out my Pinterest boards. I pin inspirational layouts, cards and other things that inspire me. You can also find my own creations there.

Hot Hot - CSI #78

This title goes perfectly for the weather, too. It has been hot, hot during this week in Finland. But the title here refers to the dish in the picture - a noodle soup me and my hubby do. The journaling is inside that pocket I made out of a scrapbooking paper. The journaling card is divided in two - right side holds my journaling, left side my hubby's.

The layout is done for CSI, for Case File #78. Underneath the paper layers and the photo is a piece of sticky back canvas. There's also gesso, misting and stamping, too.

Leiskan otsikko käy mainiosti myös tämän viikon säähän - kuumaa on ollut. Mutta tässä kuumuus viittaa kuitenkin kuvassa olevan ruuan mausteisuuteen. Kyseessä on nuudelikeitto, jota minä ja mieheni teemme. Teemme sopasta itsestään yleensä miedompaa, jotta se maistuu lapsillekin, ja lisäämme tulisuutta sitten omalle lautaselle. Sivun tarinointi löytyy tuosta taskusta, joka on kuvan takana. Taskun sisällä on kortti, joka on jaettu kahtia. Oikealla puolella on oma tarinointini ja vasemmalla mieheni.

Tea party - Scrap365

Here's a layout I did for the April-May issue of Scrap365 Magazine. The article was about selfmade embellishments. 

The picture is taken a year back in the garden of a café. I wanted to continue the summery, flowery feeling and added the butterflies and a cluster of flowers. Underneath the paper layers is gesso and modelling paste together with masking tape.

Tässä on sivu, jonka tein Scrap365 Magazinen edelliseen, huhti-toukokuun numeroon. Artikkeli käsitteli itsetehtyjä koristeita. 

Kuva on otettu vuosi sitten Seurasaaren kahvilan pihalla. Halusin jatkaa kuvan kesäistä, kukkaista tunnelmaa, joten lisäsin sivuun perhosia ja kukkarykelmän. Paperikerrosten alla on gessolla, kohopastalla ja maalarinteipillä tehty pohja. 

Huomenna onkin sitten CSI päivä! Tervetuloa silloin katsomaan, millainen juttu on ratkaistavana! Mukavaa päivää!

Roses are red...

If you follow me on Twitter or my blog on Facebook, then you might have seen this layout already. I was creating it the other night and tweeted some "making of" photos along the way. I made the layout for 7 Dots Studio's challenge "Nature Objects" and Mixed Media Place's challenge "How U Use Distress Ink".

First I didn't read the 7 Dots Studio challenge well enough and thought only nature-looking elements would do - so I chose a topic that showed some nature and pulled out the Prima resist flowers. But luckily when constructing the layout, I took a closer look and then included some hays to the layout. I also used a rose leave as a stamp together with Distress Ink, but those impressions aren't so visible.

Besides the stamping, I used Distress Inks for the background. I dropped a few drops from the re-inkers straight to the background and then misted a lot of water on top to make them blend. I also colored the Wycinanka chipboard with Distress Ink and blending tool.

The journaling reads: "Like the priest said at our wedding, life is like dancing on roses. Sometimes you dance on the petals, sometimes the thorns."

Ps. After adding my link to 7 Dots I noticed I've lifted Maja's layout without even realising it. I was actually lifting my own, unpublished layout, but I guess Maja's gorgeous and cool layout was in my mind while creating. I'm feeling a bit embarrassed. Of course, I deleted my link from the 7 Dots challenge.

Jos seuraat minua Twitterissä tai blogiani Facebookissa, olet saattanut nähdä jo kuvia tästä sivusta. Tein sitä taannoin illalla ja twiittailin kuvia työn eri vaiheista. Sivu on tehty 7 Dots Studion haasteeseen "Nature Objects" ja Mixed Media Placen haasteeseen "How U Use Distress Ink".

Ensin en lukenut 7 Dots Studion haastetta tarpeeksi hyvin ja kuvittelin, että luonnosta muistuttavat asiat riittävät haasteeseen - joten valitsin kukkakuvan aiheeksi ja nappasin laatikosta Priman resist-kukkia. Mutta onneksi lukaisin haasteen tarkemmin, kun kokosin sivua ja liitin siihen siis muutamia heiniä. Käytin myös ruusunlehteä leimana Distress Inkin kanssa, mutta nuo leimailut ovat varsin hentoisia. 

Leimailun lisäksi käytin Distress Ink -musteita myös taustaan. Pudottelin muutamia tippoja täyttöpullosta suoraan taustaan ja sitten sumuttelin vettä päälle, jotta värit sulautuivat toisiinsa. Myös Wycinankan chipboard-kuvio on väritetty DI musteilla mustetyökalun avulla.

Ps. Kun lisäsin linkkini 7 Dotsin haasteeseen, huomasin skräpistäneeni Majan sivun huomaamattani. Oikeasti skräpistin itseäni, julkaisematonta sivuani, mutta ilmeisesti Majan huikea ja mahtava sivu oli jäänyt alitajuntaani. Olen hieman nolo. Luonnollisesti poistin linkin 7 Dotsin haasteesta.

Grow - Seasonal Canvas

Hello! This is the first of the two projects I begun at ArtFusion event. If you'd like to read more about the awesome event, check this earlier post (link). 

This canvas was started on the awesome "Seasonal Canvas" workshop by Nathalie Kalbach. Even though the techniques and materials were familiar to me, I learned new facts about the medium and was in awe how Nathalie poured all her knowledge about the mediums we worked with to us. 

We worked with gel medium, gesso, acrylic paints, acrylic ink, foam stamps and stencils. I guess my color scheme isn't very surprising - even other participants in the workshop, like Tania mentioned that these are the colors I usually work with! But I had decided my season to be spring and these light, bright pastels seem to go with it. But I did use the yellow with the minty green and pale blue - so it's not totally turquoise and blue. 

Nathalie's project included stenciled letters, but when I tried to use them on my piece, they seemed too big. So I used Thickers instead to make the word. I also added some pencil doodlings to the canvas.

Heips! Tässä on toinen kahdesta ArtFusion-tapahtumassa aloittamastani työstä. Jos haluat lukea lisää itse tapahtumasta, kurkkaa tämä aiempi postaus (linkki). 

Tämän kanvaksen aloitin Nathalie Kalbachin "Seasonal Canvas" -kurssilla. Vaikka tekniikat ja materiaalit olivat ennestään tuttuja, opin uusia faktoja käyttämistämme aineista. Oli myös upea kuunnella, kuinka paljon Nathalie tietää käyttämistään materiaaleista. 

Käytimme työssä gel mediumia, gessoa, akryylimaaleja, akryylimustetta, vaahtomuovileimasimia ja sabluunoita. Arvaan, että kanvaksen värimaailma ei ole mikään kovin suuri yllätys - jopa muutama kurssin osallistujista tunnisti nuo värit omikseni - Tania totesi niiden olevan ominaisua minulle. Mutta olin päättänyt vuodenajakseni kevään ja nämä vaaleat, pastelliset, mutta kirkkaat värit sopivat mielestäni siihen. Käytin sentään keltaista vaalean sinisen ja mintun vihreän lisäksi, ettei ihan sillä turkoosi-sininen linjalla menty! 

Nathalien mallityössä oli sablunan avulla tehdyt kirjaimet, mutta kun kokeilin niitä omaan työhöni, vaikuttivat ne liian isoilta. Joten kotiin päästyäni vaihdoin kirjaimiksi Thickersit. Lisäsin kanvakseen myös hieman lyijykynä riipusteluja.

Innokas - Inzpira magazine

This is also an oldie, like previous post. This layout was published in Inzpira magazine in May. The layout is about one enthusiastic musician and I don't mean my husband. Both of the girls are keen players of various instruments, too, but the younger one of them is even more keen. Sometimes the first thing she does after waking up is to climb to the keyboard stool and start playing.

Tämäkin sivu on vanhempaa tuotantoa, kuten edellinen bloggauskin. Sivu on julkaistu Inzpira lehden toukokuun numerossa. Sivun aiheena on innokas muusikko enkä tällä kertaa tarkoita aviomiestäni. Molemmat tyttömme soittelevat eri soittimia mielellään, mutta nuorempi heistä on vielä innokkaampi kuin isosiskonsa. Pienempi aloittaa joskus aamumme synan soitolla - heti noustuaan hän kipuaa soittimen viereiseen tuoliin ja alkaa musisoimaan.

Priceless

I've been going through my blog's drafts and found several unpublished layouts there. This is one of them. I've made it to a paper where I tried an idea I had with the Glimmer Mists. At that moment I was feeling really flowery, too.

The topis is those priceless three, loves of my life. My hubby and our two daughters. The background and the flowers are colored using same Glimmer Mist colors.

Olen käynyt läpi blogin luonnoksia ja löysin sieltä muutamia aiemmin julkistamattomia sivuja. Tässä on yksi niistä. Tein sen paperille, johon kokeilin erästä ideaa Glimmer Misteillä. Leiskan tekohetkellä oli myös erittäin kukikas olo.

Workshops in the making

I've been thinking of new workshops and there's going to be four new ones in the repertoire next autumn! Here's the "polaroids" for all of the new ones and I created new pictures for old workshops, too. I made up new names for them.

Olen kehitellyt uusia kursseja vanhojen lisäksi ja syksyllä valikoimissa tulee olemaan neljä uutta. Tässä "polaroidit" jokaisesta uudesta ja myös noista vanhoista - kehitin niille uudet nimet.

Zeus and Zoe: Little Gift

Hello everyone! Here's my second project for Zeus and Zoe in June. The DT got some lovely papers from Donna Salazar and dies from Couture Creations and I created my project with those together my Zeus and Zoe kit. The creation has two parts - a little gift box made of two sheets of 6x6" papers and a necklace inside.

The gift box is made using an origami box instruction. I made the top part using the 6x6 sheet as such. To make the bottom part, I trimmed a centimetre of the other sheet. The origami instructions are really simple and you can make a box like this in no time!

To decorate the cover, I used items from my kit together with sponsored goodies. The butterfly is fuzzy cut from a piece of Donna Salazar paper as well as the "Beauty" tag. The little banner is a diecut. The heart underneath is cut with a Couture Creations' die. The lace, the flower and the rhinestones are from my Zeus and Zoe kit.

Inside the box you can find this necklace. The blue heart is cut from transparent shrink plastic with  Couture Creations' die. I don't recommend to use the die for shrink plastic as it can damage it, but I just had to give it a go! After shrinking the piece with a heat tool, I colored the heart pale blue with alcohol inks.

The little rings as well as the chain are from my own stash, but other pieces in the necklace are from my Zeus and Zoe kit. The necklace includes some key charms, a few pearls from an old piece of jewellery and also a sparkling "diamond" chain.

Hei kaikki! Tässä on toinen tämän kuun projektini Zeus and Zoe -kaupalle. Tiimi sai tässä kuussa kauniita papereita Donna Salazarilta ja hienoja stansseja Couture Creations-merkiltä, joten käytin niitä molempia ja tarvikkeita Zeus and Zoe kitistäni. Tässä pienessä lahjassa on kaksi osaa - pieni lahjalaatikko, jonka taittelin sekä kaulakoru sisällä. 

Lahjalaatikko on tehty origami laatikon taitteluohjeella. Kannen tein käyttämällä 6x6" paperia ihan sellaisenaan ja pohjasta trimmasin ensin sentin molemmista suunnista pois. Laatikon teko-ohjeet ovat todella helpot ja tällainen boksi syntyy hetkessä. 

Kannen koristeluun käytin sekä sponsorituotteita että kittiäni. Perhonen on leikattu yhdestä Donnan papersta samoin kuin "Beauty"-tagi. Viiri on diecut-kuvio. Sydän kaiken alla on stanssattu Couture Creations stanssilla. Pitsi, kukka ja tarratimantit ovat Zeus and Zoe kitistäni.

Laatikon sisältä löytyy pieni kaulakoru. Korun sininen sydän on stanssattu kutistemuovista Couture Creationsin stanssilla. En suosittele käyttämään kutistemuoviin näitä ohuita stansseja, mutta oli pakko kokeilla! Kutistin muovin kuumailmapuhaltimella ja värjäsin alkoholimusteilla. 

Pienet renkaat samoin kuin ketju korussa ovat omista kätköistäni, mutta kaikki muu on Zeus and Zoe kitistä. Korussa on avainkoristeita, muutamia helmiä korusta, joka oli kitissäni sekä tuollainen kimalteleva timanttiketju.

Kivaa päivää! Jos et ole vielä osallistunut kuukauden haasteeseen vielä on joitakin päiviä aikaa osallistua!

Love - CSI #77

Lovely Midsummer's Day! Although the picture in my layout is taken in winter, the leafy greens of the new CSI Case File fit this summer day perfectly!

The layout is about our wedding a few years back. We wanted to have a winter wedding and thought February in Finland should be snowy. Well, that year was exception. There was really no snow on the ground and on our wedding day it actually rained! But I didn't mind, I had other things to think about - like my sweet husband. The picture is taken at the reception of the flower arrangement we had in the serving table. I really love those bendy tulips.

There's again mixed media at the background, like mists and gesso and stamping, and the paper layers are attached on top. What made this layout so special to me, is the use of leaves. I never use them! Flowers, yes, but leaves, no. It was wonderful to gather a bunch of them here. I also used an embellishment I made for the Snowwhite and the Huntsman tag here (link).

Iloista juhannuspäivää! Vaikka leiskan kuva onkin otettu talvella, sopivat sivussa käytetyt vihreät hyvin kesään. Sivu on tehty uusimpaan CSI haasteeseen. 

Sivun aiheena on häämme jokunen vuosi sitten. Halusimme talvihäät ja ajattelimme, että helmikuu on lumen kannalta aika varma kuu. Eipä ollut tuona vuonna. Maa oli paljas ja hääpäivänämme satoi vettä. Mutta eipä se mitään haitannut, minulla oli muuta mielessä kuten ihana mieheni. Kuva on otettu hääjuhlasta, tarjoilupöydän kukka-asetelmasta. Nuo notkeat ranskalaiset tulppaanit ovat ihania! 

Sivun taustalta löytyy taas sekatekniikkaa gesson, mistien ja leimailun muodossa. Paperikerrokset on kiinnitetty sitten päälle. Mikä tekee sivusta erityisen, on nuo lehdet. En yleensä ikinä käytä lehtiä - kukkia silloin tällöin, mutten ikinä lehtiä. Oli siis hauskaa kerätä kätköistä kaikki mahdolliset lehdet ja kiinnittää ne tähän. Joukkoon laitoin myös tuon aikoinaan Lumikki ja metsästäjä -haasteeseen (linkki) tehdyn koristeen.

Up - July Sketchbook365

It's the third Friday of the month and time for another Sketchbook challenge! I made the layout using BasicGrey supplies that were sponsored for the DT. 

Underneath the paper layers there's some gesso and tissue paper and misting, too. I used the letter stickers in the Kneehighs collection pack as masks, but when layering the stuff covered almost all of them. Ooops. 

The topic of the page is my older daughter and her enthusiasm to climbing. The pictures are taken this spring, when there were still snow on the ground. She's sitting on a playground glimb-thingie that she loves to climb - during this summer I've taken several photos of her sitting at the exact same place.

Tänään on kuukauden kolmas perjantai ja uuden Sketchbook-haasteen aika! Tein tämän sivun Basic Greyn tarvikkeilla, jotka yritys ystävällisesti lahjoitti DTläisille. 

Kaikkien paperikerrosten alla on gessoa ja silkkipaperia sekä mistailua. Käytin Kneehighs-kokoelman tarra-aakkosia maskeina, mutta kun kokosin päällä olevat kerrokset onnistuin peittämään lähes kaikki. Hups. 

Sivun aiheena on vanhempi tyttöni ja hänen innostuksensa kiipeilyyn. Kuva on otettu keväällä, kun vielä oli lunta maassa, mutta minulla on monen monta kuvaa tältä kesältä, jossa hän istuu samassa paikassa.

Sing with me - Prima PPP

Last month I did something extreme. I have taken part to Prima's Build-A-Page sketch challenge for a long time, but never done a page for the PPP challenge - Prima Product Pick. So I wanted to take a go at it, but actually didn't have a clue what I should do. I wasn't sure if the colors shown are enough or should the piece also hold the products shown, but hey, I wanted to try anyway!

So here's my first take on the PPP challenge. The topic is my younger daughter, who daily asks me to sing with her. She usually brings me some song book and asks me to sing. Then we sing together one whole song book. And one book even has a few extra songs she always wants me to sing - one time I sing a song based on the cover picture and ever since she has demanded that song to be sung as well.

I used mixed media to the background - there's gesso, inks, mists, stamping, acrylic paint, pan pastel and pencil doodling.

Viime kuussa tein jotain erikoista. Olen ottanut jo jonkin tovin osaa Priman Build-A-Page luonnoshaasteeseen, mutta en ole koskaan tehnyt PPP haastetta - Prima Product Pick. Joten halusin kokeilla sitä, mutta en ollut ihan varma, miten edetä. En ollut varma riittikö sivuun vain esitetyt värit vai pitikö mukana olla joku esitetyistä tuotteistakin, mutta halusin kokeilla, ja tällaisen sain aikaiseksi! 

Sivun aiheena on nuorempi tyttöni, joka päivittäin pyytää minua laulamaan kanssaan. Hänellä on tapana tuoda joku laulukirja minulle ja sitten laulamme koko kirjan. Yhdessä kirjassa on myös pari lisälaulua, jotka kuuluu myös esittää - yhden kerran lauloin kirjan kannen innoittamana laulun ja siitä lähtien myös tämä laulu on pitänyt laulaa joka kerta. 

Taustaan käytin sekatekniikkaa - gessoa, mustetta, mistejä, leimailua, akryylimaalia, pan pastellia ja lyijynynä riipustelua.
