Ice Queen

This is another piece I made for Marit's Musical Blog Party. This time the inspiration came from Within Temptation's "Ice Queen". It's more literal interpretation of the song than the other one, "I wanna" layout. I think the only thing that needs some explaining is the butterfly. The lyrics of the song include a frase "on cold wings she's coming", so I made a freezing, icy butterfly.

I really went crazy with media here. First I added some cheese cloth and random thread to the canvas with gel medium. I also added a piece of lace and three large glass beads. Then I painted the whole thing with gesso, avoiding covering the glass parts totally with the paint. After the gesso had dried I added both white and clear crackle paint and crackle accent. I also squeezed some glitter glue here and there and then sprinkled some of the wet medium parts with tiny beads. After all of the media added so far had dried, I applied some mists and inks, using my finger. To finish the piece I added the embossed butterfly, some pearls and rhinestones.

Tämä on toinen juttu Maritin Musical Blog Party -tapahtumaan. Tällä kertaa inspiraationa toimi Within Temptationin "Ice Queen". Tämä teos on kirjaimellisempi tulkinta kappaleesta kuin aiemmin bloggaamani "I wanna" -leiska. Luulen, että ainoa osuus, joka vaatii ehkä selitystä on perhonen. Kappaleessa lauletaan: "on cold wings she's coming" eli "hän tulee kylmin siivin", joten tein jäätävän perhosen. 

Lisäsin tehosteaineita toisensa jälkeen tähän juttuun. Ensin kiinnitin kankaaseen sideharsoa ja lankaa gel mediumilla. Kiinnitin sillä myös palasen pitsinauhaa sekä kolme isoa lasihelmeä. Sitten maalasin koko komeuden gessolla, mutta varoin, etten maalaa helmiä kokonaan valkoisiksi. Kun gesso oli kuivunut, lisäsin joukkoon sekä valkoista että kirkasta krakleerausmaalia sekä krakleerausainetta. Puristin joukkoon kimalleliimaa ja sitten sirottelin märkien aineiden päälle sinne tänne minihelmiä. Kun kaikki siihen mennessä lisätyt tehosteaineet olivat kuivuneet, lisäsin hiukan väriä misteillä ja musteilla. Levitin ne sormellani. Viimeistelyksi lisäsin kankaalle embossatun perhosen sekä joitakin puolihelmiä ja tekotimantteja.
