Apples just for you - World Cardmaking Day hop with WOW! Embossing Powder

Hi there and warm welcome! If you arrived via Ericka, you are probably hopping along the WOW! Embossing Powder World Cardmaking Day hop. If you just popped here, please take a look and then see more details further down about the hop.

But however you ended up in my blog - welcome! I'm sharing an apple card today made for the hop. I just love to make cards. And you know what's even better? Send them on their way! I got asked to whom I love to send my cards and there's not an easy answer to this. I love to send them to my friends and family, but I guess the most special place where I send them is a Finnish online shop. I donate a lot of my cards to Teippitarha (link) so they can in their turn make someone smile.

Card Making Day reminds us that the best gifts come from the heart, and the hands and vision of the people we love, so get out there and try making a card of your own! Nowadays, with the advancements in technology and the rise of the Internet, some people have stopped sending cards altogether. Instead, they send email cards. While there is nothing wrong with this, no one can deny that receiving a beautiful card feels a lot nicer. This is especially the case when the other person has gone to the effort of making the card!

What would a blog hop be without a prize? Comment along each of the Design Team member's post for a chance to win a $25 gift card to either our UK store or USA store. (One comment per blog please.) You have until Wednesday, October 7th at 11:59PM British Summertime to leave your comments. Winners will be announced on Thursday, October 8th on WOW's blog.

But back to this card! You probably put together that I used embossing powders while making the apples and the note, but did you realize that the plaid pattern in the background is also done using embossing powders? I first made a grid using double sided tape and embossed that using "Olive". Then I took an adhesive pen and drew a couple lines at a time and embossed those using "Apple Red". So if the pattern looks a little bit loop-sided and sketchy, there's a reason for it!

The apples are made using "Fruit for Thought" stamp set and I used the same "Apple Red" powder to them. The leaves are done with "Olive", keeping the colors limited so everything is matchy-matchy. The note is stamped using Kat Scrappiness's "Everyday Brush Strokes" and "Pastel Blue" powder to match it to the background of the apples. If you want to see all the materials, please scroll a bit further.

Thank you for reading my post and seeing the card! But I bet you're wanting to hop along! So if you have started from WOW! this is your last stop. But if you happened to come here first, underneath is the hop list to get you going!

Riikka (you are here!)

Thank you again for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful World Cardmaking Day! And don't forget about the live today (link)! The time is 2 pm CET, 3 pm Finnish time! So in an hour when this blog post is scheduled to go live!

I have never worked with too many colors of embossing powder. It is fun to see what all they will do.

At first I thought that was patterned paper on the card. You put a lot of work into this "simple" card!

Lovely cheerful card. Thanks for sharing the Opaque Pastel Blue. I'm glad to see it's darker than I anticipated.

At first glance, I thought the background paper was premade. Amazing how you made the embossed plaid yourself. Just love the big red sparkly apples. Super cool card!!
