Poinsettia card - WOW! Embossing Powder and Paper Rose Studio blog hop

But now to my actual make! I used Poinsettia Corner clear stamp set from Paper Rose Studio in my card. As you can see from the detail above, I used Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder to make it sparkly and festive. I used plain water-based markers to color the image. I also used another embossing powder in my make, or rather an embossing glitter. Those little half-pearls are made using Cranberry Sparkle embossing glitter. And I also used Bright White Ultra High embossing powder to make some flurry-like details to my card. If you want to see how I made the card, please see the video below!

Frosty cards - WOW! Embossing Powder New Release hop

Hi there! A special post today! Today is TWO different hops happening - one in YouTube, to which I'm participating and another in blogs. So first things first, if you want to be in for a draw for a gift card, head over to my YouTube channel (link) and start hopping! I did these two cards for the hop. The video is of the one that is on the left and then I did another version, maybe a bit cleaner looking, with the same focal point, but less happening in the background. For the both I used one of the new Trios to emboss the elements of the focal point. The Trio is called Toteally Amazing. You can see the list of all WOW! products used in the makes a bit further down.

Above you can see my video for the hop. But as I mentioned in the beginning and what you can see from the graphic below, the hop is happening both in YouTube and in blogs! Apples just for you - World Cardmaking Day hop with WOW! Embossing Powder

Hi there and warm welcome! If you arrived via Ericka, you are probably hopping along the WOW! Embossing Powder World Cardmaking Day hop. If you just popped here, please take a look and then see more details further down about the hop.

But however you ended up in my blog - welcome! I'm sharing an apple card today made for the hop. I just love to make cards. And you know what's even better? Send them on their way! I got asked to whom I love to send my cards and there's not an easy answer to this. I love to send them to my friends and family, but I guess the most special place where I send them is a Finnish online shop. I donate a lot of my cards to Teippitarha (link) so they can in their turn make someone smile.

Card Making Day reminds us that the best gifts come from the heart, and the hands and vision of the people we love, so get out there and try making a card of your own! Nowadays, with the advancements in technology and the rise of the Internet, some people have stopped sending cards altogether. Instead, they send email cards. While there is nothing wrong with this, no one can deny that receiving a beautiful card feels a lot nicer. This is especially the case when the other person has gone to the effort of making the card!

But back to this card! You probably put together that I used embossing powders while making the apples and the note, but did you realize that the plaid pattern in the background is also done using embossing powders? I first made a grid using double sided tape and embossed that using "Olive". Then I took an adhesive pen and drew a couple lines at a time and embossed those using "Apple Red". So if the pattern looks a little bit loop-sided and sketchy, there's a reason for it!

The apples are made using "Fruit for Thought" stamp set and I used the same "Apple Red" powder to them. The leaves are done with "Olive", keeping the colors limited so everything is matchy-matchy. The note is stamped using Kat Scrappiness's "Everyday Brush Strokes" and "Pastel Blue" powder to match it to the background of the apples. Embossed ATCs - WOW! Embossing Powder and Stencil Girl Collaboration blog hop

As you can see from the video, I started my cards by making a patterned sheet of my own. I used Seth Apter stencil L664 - ATC Mixup to pattern the sheet using acrylic paint. I also use M193 - Excel stencil to add some pattern on top. Next I make an acrylic resist using the same ATC Mixup stencil and Clear Gloss embossing powder. I add some translucent grey acrylic paint on top, let it dry for a while and then wipe it off revealing the colorful patterns underneath the protective layer of the embossing powder.

After getting the backgrounds done I make some layering elements. First a tag using M060 - Urban Insiders stencil and Cosmic Trio embossing powders set. Then I combine M086 - Techno Insiders Circle stencil with Metalz Trio embossing powders set and a transparency and make some metallic circles as focal points. I also make some word tiles for the cards and finish them with sprinkled Bright White ultra high embossing powder.

WOW! Embossing Powder and Kat Scrappiness collaboration blog hop

I made some mixed media giraffe cards using Kat Scrappiess' Lola the Giraffe clear stamp set. Isn't she cute? If you want to see how I made the cards, please see the step by step underneath!

Step 1. Start by stamping Lola the Giraffe on top of a mixed media paper using WOW! embossing ink and embossing it with British Summer embossing powder. I used a monoprint collage sheet I had done earlier when demoing some techniques. But you can use cardstock or patterned paper, too.

Step 2. Cut the giraffe loose using the die or use scissors. Add some coloring to the piece using alcohol markers and paint pens. If you use a collage sheet done using acrylic paints, remember it's a non-absorbing surface and thus all pens might not work.

Step 3. Start to make the background for the giraffe. Adhere a piece of old book paper to a card base. Then stamp some paint strokes using Everyday Brush Strokes stamp set and WOW embossing ink. Emboss the marks using Bird of Paradise and Pink Robin embossing powders. For the other card with orange brush strokes I used Soft Mango embossing powder.

Step 4. Add more markings to the background. Choose a paint splat looking stamp from the Everyday Brush Stokes set, ink using WOW embossing ink and stamp here and there to the card. Use Lemon embossing powder for the marks. Also add some pencil swirls in there to lead the eye in to the giraffe coming on top. For the other card I used Mint Macaroon embossing powder instead of Lemon.

Step 5. Take some washi tapes fitting to the color scheme you have going and add a couple of strips to the backgroud under the area where Lola is going to be. Adhere her on top using foam dots.

Step 6. Using the same British Summer embossing powder, make a little banner for the sentiment. Stamp the words to a piece of colored card stock fitting to your color scheme and emboss the words. Cut and trim the banner and treat the edge using a marker. Treat the edge of the card with pencil to add a framing there.
