Welcome to the WOW! Embossing Powder & Kat Scrappiness Blog Hop! If you arrived via Maria Russell you are on the right track! We have TWO days of inspiration for you using Kat Scrappiness Stamps, Dies, and Embellishments and WOW! Embossing Powders. And of course there are amazing PRIZES! Today, Friday 28th, is the first day of the hop, so please remember to tune in tomorrow as well.

You can see my make on top, but if you want to see a step by step tutorial for them, keep on reading!

The Blog hop starts, today, Friday 28th and continues on Saturday 29th August 2020. You have until September 3rd to hop along the blogs. The winners of the hop will be announced the week of the 5th September 2020 on both the WOW! Embossing Powder and Kat Scrappiness Blog.

What would a blog hop be without prizes? WOW! Embossing Powders is giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to either their UK or USA Store and Kat Scrappiness is giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to their store! All you need to do to win is COMMENT. The more blogs you comment on the more chances you have to win! The winners will be chosen at RANDOM from ANY of the blogs on the two day hop.

If you get lost along the way, here's the hop list for today. Please check WOW! Embossing Powder blog (link) tomorrow for the route to the day 2!

Riikka Kovasin (you are here!)

I made some mixed media giraffe cards using Kat Scrappiess' Lola the Giraffe clear stamp set. Isn't she cute? If you want to see how I made the cards, please see the step by step underneath!

Step 1. Start by stamping Lola the Giraffe on top of a mixed media paper using WOW! embossing ink and embossing it with British Summer embossing powder. I used a monoprint collage sheet I had done earlier when demoing some techniques. But you can use cardstock or patterned paper, too.

Step 2. Cut the giraffe loose using the die or use scissors. Add some coloring to the piece using alcohol markers and paint pens. If you use a collage sheet done using acrylic paints, remember it's a non-absorbing surface and thus all pens might not work.

Step 3. Start to make the background for the giraffe. Adhere a piece of old book paper to a card base. Then stamp some paint strokes using Everyday Brush Strokes stamp set and WOW embossing ink. Emboss the marks using Bird of Paradise and Pink Robin embossing powders. For the other card with orange brush strokes I used Soft Mango embossing powder

Step 4. Add more markings to the background. Choose a paint splat looking stamp from the Everyday Brush Stokes set, ink using WOW embossing ink and stamp here and there to the card. Use Lemon embossing powder for the marks. Also add some pencil swirls in there to lead the eye in to the giraffe coming on top. For the other card I used Mint Macaroon embossing powder instead of Lemon.

Step 5. Take some washi tapes fitting to the color scheme you have going and add a couple of strips to the backgroud under the area where Lola is going to be. Adhere her on top using foam dots.

Step 6. Using the same British Summer embossing powder, make a little banner for the sentiment. Stamp the words to a piece of colored card stock fitting to your color scheme and emboss the words. Cut and trim the banner and treat the edge using a marker. Treat the edge of the card with pencil to add a framing there.

Step 7. Finish the card by adhering the banner in place using double sided tape. Add some epoxy stickers to embellish.

I hope you liked the step by step! I know there's a lot of inspiration throughout the hop so remember to visit and comment each blog.

Thank you for stopping by today! I wish you luck with the hop. Your next step is Tina Guigui Dornbaum

I really like the way you used mixed media materials on your cards!
I have never used book pages or seen a card that had used them but it gives it a cool effect!
Both are great cards, thanks for sharing!

The old book paper is a nice touch. Gives it an antique-y feel. I like the embossing that you did, & the giraffes are so cute!
