Welcome to the Friday post! This time the color scheme is a it unconventional for me, but there's a reason for it. If you want to rush ahead and see why I made a yellow project, you can see the reason in the process video here (link) on my YouTube channel.
The reason for the color is the product I used to create the background and several embellishments for the spread. That product is a napkin. I found that in a sale basket in a shop and thought to salvage the package as I quite liked the motif. The napkin is made by Finlayson to celebrate Kalevala Koru. Kalevala Koru is a Finnish company, started back in the 1930's. The jewelry selection of the company combines new designs with the ones that are featured here, pieces inspired by actual burial finds. The heart shaped pendant in the photo above is called "Euran sydän" - Eura Heart. The inspiration for the piece has come from a Viking age burial find from Eura. The pendant on the right is called "Kuutar" - Moon Goddess. It's probably one of the most iconic Kalevala pieces and it's inspired by different Viking time finds. The little pieces dangling at the bottom of the piece are there to repel evil spirits. You can read more about Kalevala Koru here (link) in their website.
One of the leading ideas of Kalevala Koru was also empowering women. I used that was my title in the spread, but to be honest, I could have placed the letters a bit better. They of course work nicely, when the pages are together, but when adhered to the journal the loose E looks funny. I should have added the "em" to the left page and then "power" to the right, that would have worked better!
Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a spellbound weekend!
