Hi there and happy Friday! That means another process video on my YouTube channel! Well, and on the blog too as I embed it to the blog post. This time I have an art journal page for you!
Remember the tea themed ATCs I shared not so long ago? I mean these (link). They were made using Fox and Found Studio's printables. So is this journal! Like I wrote in the earlier post, I feel so much gratitude to the lady who owns the Etsy shop. I'm also a firm believer of the phrase "we rise by lifting others", although I should emphasize it even more. On that note, Katy offers a special printable through her Instagram account with all money raised going to British Red Cross to aid the victims of the war in Ukraine. You can see that printable here (link).
But back today's project! My jumping off point for this was the gorgeous vintage photo. It's from a printable called "Edwardian Actors". I combined him with some vintage background pieces. Those were from two printables, "Document Squares" and "Vintage ATCs". One of those pieces had a machine blueprint styled pattern and that turned my thoughts to an inventor or an engineer. The man in the photo was holding a pen after all, maybe to jot down the latest idea! To highlight this idea even more, I added a machinery inspired dimensional layer on top of the background, underneath the photo cluster.
If you want to see how I made the page, please see the video underneath!
As you could see from the video, I combined the printables with some ephemera from my stash. I have a terrible way of saving some receipts, paper bags and such paper ephemera I can think of to use in mixed media. I say terrible as the bag holding these keeps getting bigger and bigger! I really need to go through it soon and see everything with a new pair of eyes...
What you can't see from the video, in a way, is the last detail of that sticker besides the photo on the right. It's from the paper bag I used in the layers. I took it aside, as it didn't seem to fit the color scheme but when I then had finished recording, the right side seemed a touch bare so I decided to add the sticker there anyway!
Do you have a stash of ephemera for journaling and crafting? If you do, do you tidy the stash up or just keep adding?
Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a relaxing, crafty weekend. Stay safe everyone!
