Yolo - Scrap Fx

Hello there! Hopefully you've had a great start to the new year 2016! Here's my first page for Scrap FX this year. There's no new collection in January so my monthly creations only show a mix of different older collections!

This page is about the "yolo" attitude - you only live once. I was fortunate enough to come across a really inspiring woman in 2015 and marveled her way to really live in the moment and live life to the fullest. Too many times I hear myself saying something like "I'll do that when it's a better time" or "maybe in a year". Why not now? The year 2015 also showed me that life is fragile and that anything can happen in a heartbeat so putting all the living to a halt and waiting for retirement it's not the thing.

So keeping that attitude in mind I went into a teen-mode and attended the three last Turisas shows in their Finnish tour. Luckily enough my husband got my enthusiasm and was chuckling when I bought the tickets and was going through ways getting around Finland and doing my job as well.

The page is done in red and black again because of the band. It also creates a very dramatic combination so it's a good thing for this kind of page. I started the layout by stamping the numbers to the background using black gesso. On top I also stamped the "Circles and Lines" design using black ink and series of circles using red ink. Then I made the raised text using a stencil and mixing black gesso to gel medium.

On top I then added the paper layers with a piece of the "Machinations Transparency" underneath. The title is partly made using foam alpha and the "{Life..." chippie. Embellishments include the embossing powder treated "Heart of Keys" and one of the pieces from the "Metal Findings" set as well as stars from "Seeing Stars" colored black.

Thank you for your visit today! Wishing you a great, inspiring start to the weekend! I know I'm going to do some art journaling as the second video just popped up in the Wanderlust workshop!

I love your layouts so much! This one is perfect- I especially love the combination of black and red and the raised text.
