Here's a somewhat extraordinary page I did for Scrap FX. The reason for it being a bit stranger than my normal pages is that the background is no ordinary patterned paper but instead a piece from a paper bag. Let me explain:
I think it was last summer when one Finnish clothes chain announced a line designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. When I was studying he was my idol - I loved the fun ideas he had in his designs and the quirky details and just the beauty of the evening pieces. So when I noticed the announcement I was determined to get myself a piece of the collection. The collection was launced and I went shopping. Well, went to see what was left as I wasn't queuing in front of the shop during morning hours. So there wasn't that much left and all the pieces I thought I'd get were sold out. But I bought one skirt and a top anyway in a hurry and went home only to realize that they weren't for me. But I was sneaky when returning the clothes - I took them back in a different bag and left this gorgeous one to myself!
Even back then I had the idea to use it as a base for a layout but I have been waiting for the right inspiration. And now it came with the ScrapFX chippies! So I cut a 12x12 " sized piece from the bag for the background and used the other of the handles as a detail, running across the page. On top I then added some stamping with "Heart Spangles" stamp and also doodling through the "Random Dots" stencil.
I kept the color scheme really limited only using colors found from the bag - cream / flesh, navy blue and red. I also kept the layers behind the photo really small, just mounting the photo on a piece of patterned paper so that the layers wouldn't hide the beautiful design on the bag.
As embellishments I used a few chippies and also used them to make a title. The title pieces I left untreated to mimic the background color of the page but the others I treated to match the other colors. The heart shapes got some red glitter embossing powder on top and the numbers and the star saying I painted using the same acrylic paint I used to stamp the heart pattern to the background. To finish the number piece I drew some dotted lines on top, like stitching.
Underneath you can find the materials from ScrapFX used in this page. Thank you for stopping by today!
