Cozy Blog Hop - Finnabair Creative Team

Hello there and welcome to Finnabair Creative Team blog hop! Today we're sharing some inspiration and there's a prize in the hop, too! So please take a cup of warm coffee or tea and join us!

"We don't know about your corner of the world but in Europe, dreary November weather is just around the corner. That's why, Finnabair Creative Team came up with a special challenge to warm you up and possibly inspire to create some fantastic art. Feel most welcome to join in!

Here's how our Cosy Challenge works: First of all, make sure you blog hop with our Creative Team. Below you can see the list of all the blogs where you can find lots of warm and fuzzy inspirations. Make yourself a huge cup of hot tea and visit each of the Ladies to see their Cosy interpretations of the challenge. Don't forget to leave a warm comment!

Riikka (you are here!)

We hope you feel warmed and inspired! If you do, we have a fun challenge for you and a great prize to win! Here's what you can do:

1) Find a photo that will serve as a Cosy inspirational jumping point for you. It can be any image from the internet or a photo you take yourself;

2) Create a work (layout, collage, canvas, cards - anything goes) that represents the concept of coziness;

3) Go to Finnabair's blog and leave a link to your work. You have two weeks to send in the submissions - 'till November 8th. Then, our Team will choose a winner.

We can't wait to see your cosy creations!"

Here's my take on the warm and soft and cozy theme. A fluffy, winter-inspired dress canvas!

Some time ago, I watched this amazing video by Marta and the idea stuck to my head. So when the hop was thrown to the air, Eliza asked us to think cozy, warm, woolen thoughts. I went to find something warm and soft on Pinterest and among the pictures I got was the one below. The flowing dress, the beaded cape and the tulle on the floor. I then combined the two - the inspiration already existing in my head and that of the photo.

I started by creating the top of the dress somewhat similar than the one in Marta's video. When the bodice part was drying, I prepared the canvas base. I adhered lace to the canvas using the 3D Gel and then coated the background with white gesso and crackle paint. After those had dried, I then manipulated paper and treated it like fabric to form the hem of the dress. I also added some resist canvas, tulle and feathers to the mix. Lastly I added the quote to the piece using small alpha stickers.

I hope I have inspired you! Now please hop on and go see what an amazing project Monika has created! Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope I'll see you again!
