Sail Away - SATW January

It's time for mid month reveal in Scrap Around The World challenge nine hosted by Design Team member Kim Ewins from Australia! The deadline for this challenge is Thursday 31st January 2014.

Please see our first reveal post here (link) for another eight awesome layouts by the rest of our Design Team, as well as some of our plans for 2013, a couple of changes and a list of everyone we are thankful for so far!

We have some amazing prizes yet again this month and we hope that many of you will be able to participate in our January challenge! You can check the prices at the end of this post. As you will see we now offer a mood board only, without a sketch, in order to assist you in combining our challenge with a sketch challenge if you want.

Feel free to interpret the mood board in any way you like, using one image, several of them, all of them or even just one aspect of an image, using any colors!

Check out the 10 Golden Rules found here (link) to be eligible for judging and prizes. If you want the Design Team to comment your project, please ensure that you've turned the word verification off.

Here's my page to the challenge. I was inspired by the nautical theme and also by the colors in the mood board. I also used flowers, jute string, round shapes, white on white texture and pearls because of the items in the mood board.

The pictures were taken during the Tall Ship Race while the big sailboats visited Helsinki last summer. We went to see them with the girls and I took a few pictures a long the way. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the big boats were lovely and full of feel for adventure.

I was actually working on something completely different when the inspiration hit me suddenly. It took me just about 30 minutes to finish this page! I have told you that I usually let my hands to guide me while working, but this time I had an image and plan in my mind when I started. I just gathered the supplies I needed, die cut the photos while the gesso was drying and then put all the elements together.

Materials: Bazzill, Tattered Angels, Prima Marketing, Talens, Ranger, Basic Grey, MT Masking Tape, Teippitarha

this is amazing and so creative!
I love it how the photos "peak through", it adds to the organic feel of the whole idea.
the colours, the composition, the embellishments - everything so subtle and well-thought.
I'm in awe...
