Ombre letters tutorial

Hello! Maybe you remember me telling earlier that I'm going back to my regular job this autumn? There's still about a month to that, but I'm slowly starting to change things around the blog and one of them is the posting frequenzy. I'm first moving to "every other day" schedule slowly by the end of this month and then I'm planning on posting every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. But let's see how this goes.

But today I have a little something - I first thought posting this together with the minialbum, but the post felt over crowded then. So today I share with you a little tutorial about how I made the flaming or ombre letters you can see on the cover of the minialbum above.

Hei!

What you'll need is a white letter sticker and at least two colors of Copic felt pens that go together. I used orange (YR16) and red (R29). You can also use other brand, of course. The more colors you use, the better the omble effect.

First color the letter with the lightest color. Add more pressure to the darker side, in my case the lower part of the letter. I always more from light to dark, but I know other people like to do it the other way. I feel that I have more control over the colors when going this way - if I start with the darkest color I always seem to run out of space with the lightest. This way I ensure that I have space for the lightest colors also - you can always add more of the darkers shades, but it's hard to erase the color totally.

Then add the darker colors one by one. As I worked with only two colors, for me this ment adding the red. Same technique applies here - use more pressure in the darker area and then lighten the pressure towards the lighter parts. See how the colors fade into each other in the letters?

I hope you find this tutorial useful! Thank you for visiting!

I don't even know what your regular job is Riikka! But can understand that things will then need to be prioritised! I am a full-time worker too in IT and also a Mother, like yourself, so yes, then one's days become very full! I wish you well and hopefully you can find your routine soon! ;-)
