Sweet - Sketchbook365

Although it's December and winter is here, it's great to go back to those sunny summer days. This layout I created for the Sketchbook challenge.

The papers and some of the embellishments in this layout are from Webster's Pages. The sketchbook team was given this treat - one collection to work with. I loved the items from "Recorded" collection that arrived through mail! The happy, sunny colors reminded me about the summer so I decided to do a page about the ice creams we had in the park after a grocery shopping with kids. 

I used different patterned papers from the collection in my layout, but also found the packaging of the supplies really beautiful and inspiring. You can see a piece of packaging peeking behind the layers on top of the photos. Also the washers have been punched from the packaging. 

For the background I used gesso and Gelatos and created a watercolor-like effect. I added the square element of the sketch using machine stitching.

Vaikka joulukuu onkin ja talvi tulossa, on silti mukava muistella kesää. Tämä sivu on tehty Sketchbook-haasteeseen.

Sivun paperit ja osa koristeista ovat Webster's Pages -yritykseltä. Haasteen tiimi sai yhden kokoelman, jolla leikkiä. Minun paketistani kuoriutui "Recorded"-kokoelma. Pidin siitä valtavasti ja kokoelman lämpöiset värit muistuttivat minua kesästä. Niinpä tein sivun kauppareissun yhteydessä ostetuista jätskeistä, jotka maisteltiin lähipuistossa. 

Käytin kokoelman eri kuviopapereita sivun kerroksiin, mutta myös pakkauksia. Minusta kokoelman pahvipakkaukset olivat näet niin kauniit, että halusin liittää ne myös sivuun. Palan tuollaista löytää mm. kurkkimassa kuvan takaa. Myös kaikki pienet renkaat on leikattu pakkauspahvista.  

Taustalle levitin gessoa ja tein Gelatos-liiduilla vesivärimäisen pinnan. Luonnoksessa löytyvän neliöelementin tulkitsin ompelemalla. 

Vielä on muutama päivä aikaa osallistua haasteeseen! Palkinto on komea, yksi kokoelma Webster's Pages'iltä, joten mitä enää odotat?

Kerroksia Seinäjoki - Sketchbook365 September

Hello! Have you already noticed there's a new challenge at Sketchbook365? This is my page for the September challenge.

Underneath you can see a photo I took of the background before I added the paper layers on top. I used two different stencils with mists to create patterns of blue and then stamped with an alphabet stamp on top. I didn't peel any of the letters from the packaging, but instead used the plastic sheet they come with as a sort of acrylic block. I also added some pencil doodling and white splashes after the picture was taken. 

The layout is about a workshop trip to Seinäjoki last spring. It was a really cool day!

Hei! Oletteko jo huomanneet uuden haasteen Sketchbook365-blogissa? Tämä sivun on tehty syyskuun haasteeseen.

Nappasin sivun taustasta kuvan ennen kuin lisäsin päälle paperikerrokset ja koristeet. Käytin taustaan kahta eri sabluunaa ja sinisiä mistejä lisätäkseni taustaan kuvioita. Leimailin myös päälle aakkosleimasetillä. En irroittanut kirjaimia pakkauksestaan, vaan käytin muoviliuskaa, jossa kirjaimet tulevat vähän akryylipalikan tapaan. Lisäsin kuvan ottamisen jälkeen taustaan myös hieman valkoisia roiskeita sekä lyijykynäriipusteluja. 

Sivun aiheena on viime kevään kurssimatka Seinäjoelle. Oli todella mukavaa! Jos kurssittelu kiinnostaa, tälle syksylle on muutamia kursseja eri puolilla Etelä-Suomea (linkki).

Lil' Dragon - Sketchbook365 August

It seems that I'm pretty poor for making a post every second day! But here's my layout to the new Sketchbook365 challenge that was revealed a few days ago.

The page is about the little girl who always gathers all the playthings around herself when sitting in the sand box. She has five showels, four buckets and numerous moulds around her feet. That reminded me of a dragon that's guarding a treasure.

I recorded a little video while making the layout. Hope you'll like it!

Ei tunnu onnistuvan minulta tuo joka toinen päivä postaus! Mutta tässä on sivuni uusimpaan Sketchbook365-haasteeseen, joka julkaistiin joitakin päiviä sitten. 

Sivun aiheena on pieni tyttö, joka hiekkalaatikolle päästessään aina kerää kaikki lelut omien jalkojensa juureen. Siinä on lapio, ämpäri ja muotti poikineen. Tapa muistutti minua ihan aarretta vartioivaa lohikäärmettä. 

Nauhoitin sivun teosta pienen videon. Toivottavasti tykkäätte!

Up - July Sketchbook365

It's the third Friday of the month and time for another Sketchbook challenge! I made the layout using BasicGrey supplies that were sponsored for the DT. 

Underneath the paper layers there's some gesso and tissue paper and misting, too. I used the letter stickers in the Kneehighs collection pack as masks, but when layering the stuff covered almost all of them. Ooops. 

The topic of the page is my older daughter and her enthusiasm to climbing. The pictures are taken this spring, when there were still snow on the ground. She's sitting on a playground glimb-thingie that she loves to climb - during this summer I've taken several photos of her sitting at the exact same place.

Tänään on kuukauden kolmas perjantai ja uuden Sketchbook-haasteen aika! Tein tämän sivun Basic Greyn tarvikkeilla, jotka yritys ystävällisesti lahjoitti DTläisille. 

Kaikkien paperikerrosten alla on gessoa ja silkkipaperia sekä mistailua. Käytin Kneehighs-kokoelman tarra-aakkosia maskeina, mutta kun kokosin päällä olevat kerrokset onnistuin peittämään lähes kaikki. Hups. 

Sivun aiheena on vanhempi tyttöni ja hänen innostuksensa kiipeilyyn. Kuva on otettu keväällä, kun vielä oli lunta maassa, mutta minulla on monen monta kuvaa tältä kesältä, jossa hän istuu samassa paikassa.

Brickwall

This layout is made to Sketchbook365's June sketch challenge. The sketch is by Birgit Koopsen. The sketch reveal is a spectacular one - the new Sketchbook design team has made such a great job and the layouts are beautiful!

My layout is about our younger sweetie who is really determined and hard headed. She has a really strong will and sometimes it really feels like you'd be talking to a brickwall when you try to tell her not to do something or guide her. The dear sweetie does excatly how she pleases.

The generous Basic Grey made it possible for me to use the new Kneehighs collection in this layout. The collection has some beautiful, bold papers, but I found also this more subbtle one to go with my theme. I used the collection pack's set of alphas in the backgroung to create texture and interest. 

Tämä sivu on tehty Sketchbook365 -haasteen kesäkuun luonnokseen. Luonnos on tehty Birgit Koopsenin sivusta. Kannattaa käydä kurkkaamassa haaste - uusi design team on tehnyt komeita sivuja! 

Oma sivuni on tehty nuorimmaisestani, joka on erittäin itsepäinen ja päättäväinen. Hänellä on vahva tahto ja välillä tuntuukin siltä, että juttelisi tiiliseinälle, kun tyttöä kieltää tai koettaa ohjeistaa. Rakas tirppa tekee oman päänsä mukaan.

Antelias Basic Grey mahdollisti sen, että tein sivun uutta Kneehighs-kokoelmaa käyttäen. Kokoelmasta löytyy kauniita, vahvakuosisia papereita, mutta löytyy sieltä rauhallisempiakin papereita, kuten tämä tässä sivussa käytetty. Käytin lisäksi kokoelman aakkostarroja taustan luomiseen.

Sketchbook May

This is my layout for the newest Sketchbook365 challenge! The layout is about our wonderful trip to Stockholm. On the flight back we had this cute little plane we boarded.

The background is done with crayons and mists. The piece behind the photos is a piece of chipboard from the workshop in Stockholm. There's a few pieces of patterned papers, some fuzzy cutting and washi tape, too. I needed to divide the title to two rows as it was too long to be in just one and I just had to use those alphas! To finish the layout I added some twine by Garn und Mehr under the flowers and scattered some wooden chipboard stars here and there.

Tässä sivuni uusimpaan Sketchbook365 -haasteeseen! Leiska kertoo ihanasta Tukholman reissusta helmikuussa. Takaisin tulomatkalla lensimme tällaisella suloisella pienellä koneella. 

Tausta on tehty liiduilla ja misteillä. Kuvan takana oleva palanen on kurssilla saatu chipboard pala. Sivusta löytyy myös muutama kuviopaperin palanen, hiukan kuviopaperista leikattuja koristeita sekä washiteippiä. Otsikko piti jakaa kahdelle riville, koska halusin ehdottomasti käyttää noita kirjaimia. Viimeistelin sivun Garn und Mehrin langalla sekä pienillä puisilla tähdillä.

Sketchbook April

Hello, hello! There's another Sketchbook challenge revealed today. The sketch was really challenging for me and this is what I came up with. The opening of the new sketch marks also the new issue of Scrap365! If you're not yet familiar with it, I highly recommend this number. It's full of inspiration! You can find not ne but two articles by me inside the magazine!

Back to the layout. I wanted to do something completely different this time than started by applying gesso, so I first covered a part of the backgrpund paper with aluminium tape. Then I colored it with alcohol inks. On top of it I layered vellum and the photos and pieces of patterned papers. I finished the page with some washi tape, a few embellishments and some stamping.

Wheter you like to be inspired by a sketch, a subject or a case, there's a challenge for you! You can either choose the Sketchbook sketch or go with the PaperStories one. If you want more freedom, try Zeus and Zoe challenge instead. And if you want even more guidelines, there's still time to make a project for CSI Case File 62 and in just a few hours the Case File 63 is opened! It would be lovely to see your take on every single one of them!

Heippa hei! Kuukauden kolmas perjantai ja aika uuden Sketchbook-haasteen! Luonnos oli minulle todella haastava. Uuden haasteen avautuminen tarkoittaa osaltaan myös uutta numeroa Scrap365-lehdestä! Jos julkaisu ei vielä ole tuttu, suosittelen tutustumaan tähän numeroon - siinä on hurjasti inspiraatiota! Lehdestä löytyy ei vaan yksi vaan kaksi artikkelia minulta. 

Mutta takaisin leiskan pariin. Halusin tehdä tällä kertaa jotain ihan erilaista kuin napata gessopurkin ensimmäisenä esille ja niinpä ensimmäiseksi päällystin sivua alumiiniteipillä. Värjäsin teippiä sitten sieltä täältä alkoholimusteilla. Päälle kerrostin kuultopaperia, valokuvat ja palaset kuviopaperia. Viimeistelin sivun washi teipeillä, muutamalla koristeella ja leimaamalla. 

Jos viikonloppuna innostaisi skräppäillä, mutta inspiraatio on hukassa, löytyy tällä hetkellä hurjasti vaihtoehtoja saada ideat virtaamaan. Jos luonnokset ovat sinun juttusi, voit valita joko uudesta Sketchbook luonnoksesta taikka PaperStories versiosta. Jos vapaampi lähestymistapa on enemmän sinun juttusi, kokeile Zeus and Zoe -haastetta. Ja jos puolestaan haluat vielä enemmän valmiiksi sanottuja juttuja, vielä on hetki aikaa tehdä sivu CSI Case File 62:seen. Ja yöllä avautuu uusi haaste, Case File 63! Olisi mahtava nähdä teidän tulkintojanne vaikka jokaisessa haasteessa!

Sketchbook March

The new Sketchbook challenge has gone live today. The sketch is this time by Kim Woods. Go check out it here and also the great layout the DT has done!

My page is about my older daughter. I made different layers and cut some tags out of patterned paper. I even made a polaroid frame out of patterned paper. I also created more subtle layers using stencils and mists, drawing and stamping.

One goal in making this layout was to use some old stash - those stickers and diecuts have been in my drawer since the beginning of the hobby! But there's a lot of new things, too, like a BadgesFolie badge and that flower which is stamped with a new stamp by Stampin' Up.

Uusi luonnos on avattu Sketchbook-haasteeseen tänään. Luonns on tälläkertaa Kim Woodsin sivusta tehty. Luonnosen ja tiimin mainiot tulkinnat siitä näet tämän linkin takaa! 

Oma sivuni kertoo vanhemmasta tyttärestäni. Tein sivuun erilaisia kerroksia ja leikkasin kuviopapereista tageja rykelmäksi. Tein jopa polaroid-tyyppisen kehyksen kuviopaperista. Loin myös hienovaraisempia kerroksia sabluunoilla, misteillä, piirtelemällä ja leimaamalla. 

Yksi tavoitteeni tämän sivun teossa oli käyttää vanhoja varastojani pois - nuo tarrat ja leikekuvat ovat olleet laatikossa harrastuksen alkuajoista saakka! Mutta on sivussa uusiakin juttuja, kuten BadgesFolien nappi ja tuo kukka, joka on leimattu Stampin' Up!in leimalla.

Talk to the hand

We have a teenager in our home. She's not turned four yet. 

It's so wonderful to notice little things that shout "Teenager!", when she's still a little girl. She rolls her eyes, uses certain frases (where has she learned those?) and tries to act much bigger than she is. And is constantly seeking and demonstating her will and keeping her head. 

I did this page for the Sketchbook January challenge. Although Scrap365 is going to be bi-monthly starting next year, the Sketchbook challenge is still going to be published every month.

Meillä on kotona teini. Hän ei ole vielä täyttänyt neljää. 

On ihan mahtavaa, miten jotkut asiat huutavat "Teini!", vaikka K on vasta pikkutyttö. Tyttö pyörittelee silmiään, puhuu "siisku, niinku" ja muita teinifraaseja (mistä hän on ne oppinut?) ja yrittää olla isompi kuin onkaan. Tyttö hakee tahtoaan, osoittaa sitä ja pitää päänsä. 

Tämä sivu on tehty Sketchbook-haasteen tammikuun luonnokseen. Vaikka Scrap365 alkaa ilmestyä tulevana vuonna joka toinen kuukausi, Sketchbook-haaste jatkaa silti ilmestymistään joka kuukausi. 

Peking-keitto / Peking soup

The newest issue of Scrap365 Magazine was published yesterday. There's something mini from me, too, in that issue. But today I want to share with you a layout made for the December Sketchbook challenge which also was published yesterday. The sketch is based on a layout by Wendy McKee.

I wanted to document one of my favourite foods - the Peking soup. It's a very spicy soup, that I love to eat whenever I have to chance to go to a Chinese restaurant. So yummy!

The color scheme of the layout came from the photo and the spicy soup - although I just had to add a little pink and green there, too. The journaling translates: "I love. Yummy."

Scrap365 Magazinen uusin numero julkaistiin eilen. Siitä löytyy jotain miniä minultakin. Mutta tämänpäiväinen leiska on tehty joulukuun Sketchbook-haasteeseen, joka myös julkaistiin eilen. Luonnos perustuu Wendy McKeen sivuun.

Halusin tallentaa yhden lempiruuistani, peking-keiton. Se on erittäin mausteinen ja tulinen keitto, jonka aina otan kiinalaisessa, jos vain sellainen listalla on. Nami nami!

Leiskan värit tulivat tuosta kuvasta ja keiton mausteisuudesta. Mutta pitihän minun hiukan saada joukoon pinkkiä ja vihreääkin.

Baked goods / Sketchbook October

Sketchbook365 blogissa on jälleen uusi haaste avattu. Tällainen sivu minulla syntyi Siân Fairin luonnoksen innoittamana. 

Ensin olin (jälleen kerran) ihan kauhuissani luonnoksesta, mutta sivusta tuli lopulta hyvin mieluinen. Osa syynä taitaa olla nuo söpöt paperit. Tuo monikerroksinen viirinauhaidea on skräpistetty Ashlilta. Minä tosin käytin tarrapaloja, Ashli taisi omansa ommella. Yksityiskohtina on puukuvioita, nappeja ja leikkureilla tehtyjä muotoja. Ja löytyyhän sieltä taas yksi Stash Panache nappikin.

There's a new challenge over at Sketchbook365. This is my page after the sketch by Siân Fairin. 

First I was puzzled and thought how to do the page, but after I got an idea to layer the little squares, the layout was easy to make. That layered bunting is actually Ashli's idea. I used 3D foam squares to create the depth, I think Ashli used sewing. The embellishments include wooden patterns, buttons and die cut pieces. And you can find one button by Stash Panache, too. 

Sketchbook August

Elokuun Sketchbook luonnos oli minulle todella haastava. Paljon ympyrämuotoja, joita en yleensä käytä, monta kuvaa ja hyvin keskitetty asettelu. Huh. Tällainen kokonaisuudesta nyt sitten tuli. Siellä on jopa se sydän, joka luonnokseta löytyy. 

Aiheena on An lempparilelut vauva-ajalta. Kuvat ovat olleet skräpättävien kansiossa jo tovin jos toisenkin, mutta nyt sain sivun sitten tehtyä. Koetin rikkoa luonnoksen linjoja hivenen ja tehdä siitä omanlaisemman, mutta ei tämä nyt parhaimpiin töihini kuulu. Mitäs te pidätte? Ja käykääpä kurkkaamassa, mitä muut ovat luonnosta käsitelleet!

The August sketch for Sketchbook challenge was really challenging for me. Lots of circles, which I don't usually use, more than one photo and quite a lot elements. This is what I came up with. 

The layout is about A's favourite baby toys. That is to say I have had these photos in my scrapbooking photo book for quite a while. I tried to make the sketch look more like me, but still I don't feel that this is very "me". What do you think? And go and have a look what other's from the DT have made for the challenge!

Sketchbook

Tämä sivu syntyi perjantaina julkaistun Scrap365 -lehden Sketchbook haasteen luonnoksen pohjalta. Tai siis sivu syntyi jo viikkoja sitten, mutta nyt sen voi tänne laittaa, kun haastekin on julkaistu. Tausta on 7 Dots Studion paperi ja väreinä sivussa on siniset, ruskeat ja kulta.

This is my page for the Scrap365 magazine's Sketchbook challenge. The background paper is from 7 Dots Studios and the colours of the page are blues, browns and gold. 

Sketchbook layout

Sketchbook -haasteessa on ilmestynyt uusi haaste. Sketchbook on Scrap365 lehden oma haasteblogi, jossa julkaistaan haaste joka kuukausi. Tässä minun tulkintani uusimpaan haasteeseen. Keikautin luonnoksen kyljelleen, kun varastoista löytyi vain vaakakuvia, jotka sopivat luonnokseen. Ensin koin luonnoksen todella haastavaksi, mutta lopputuloksesta tuli oikein kiva. 

Kuvien alle tein kohokuviointitaskulla tuollaisen puunsyykuvion toistamaan taustan kuviointia. Yhden, pienimmän paperin värjäsin alkoholimusteilla. Koristeeksi laittelin teippejä (Teippitarhasta), nappeja ja pari koristeneulaa. Luonnoksen kaariaiheen tulkitsin leimaamalla.

There's a new challenge over at Sketchbook challenge blog. As a part of the Scrap365 DT I got to make this layout to inspire others - I do hope it is inspirational! I turned the sketch 90 degrees counter clockwise. First I thought the sketch was really challenging for me, but the I like the end result very much.

I embossed the background piece with woodgrain embossing folder and added some ink to it. The smallest piece of paper is coloured with alcohol inks. The embellishments include some tapes (for Teippitarha), buttons and a couple of decorative pins.
