Summer sphinx - Prima Marketing

Colorful Monday to you all! Hopefully you had a lovely weekend! Today I'm sharing a mixed media piece with you, which I created for Prima Marketing.

Let me introduce Summer Sphinx to you! She was supposed to be a summer fairy first, but in the end she had a wise, a bit mysterious expression on her face so I decided to call her a sphinx instead. She’s made out of different moulded shapes and some lace, but looks quite vibrant, right?

The moulds are so handy for this sort of a thing as you can create a number of different shapes using them and then use your imagination to combine the shapes. The face of this sphinx is made using “Flower Queen” mould, wings using “Cogs and Wings” and then there’s a multitude of flowers.

I used hot glue to make the shapes as it’s relatively fast and easy. When the shapes come out of the moulds, the hot glue doesn’t look like much, but they are easy to transform using acrylic paints. I primed the shapes with white gesso, then added a coat of Impasto paints and finally added an array of shiny paints on top.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful week!
