515496 now's the right time - Craft Stamper

I'm not sure if you have noticed, but I have a thing about scissors! I just love how they look, that perfect combination of functionality and design. I especially love the old, metal ones, but the new ones with different patterns on the handles are great, too. I own two pairs of crafting scissors - Fiskars ones with a blue design and then the Tonic Studio ones.

This piece is actually something I made for Craft Stamper's September issue, for an article called "Creative Upcycling". The idea in that is to use something out of the ordinary in a project, to upcycle something, think outside of the box.

I wanted to use as much as possible non-craft elements in my make. I chose the old scissors as my focal point, but also used other gathered and found ephemera in my make. And the rust paste you see? That isn't ready rust paste but self made, using spices! There's a step by step tutorial for this piece in the magazine.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great Wednesday! Oh and did you know that Fiskars is a Finnish company? The name is from a little village near the capital where the factory was first located and where the iconic orange scissors were born. Maybe that's why I adore scissors?

Ps. Could I also interest you in a giveaway? There's one over at Sizzix now! You have until December 8th time to participate if you are in Europe, Asia or Australia! Find out more here (link).

Wow, what a lovely piece. I love the more subdued palette and the uncluttered layering, if you know what I mean! Less layers, but still a big impact. I I know what I mean!! Lovely anyway!xx
