Grateful For... - Epiphany Crafts

Hello there! The past week has been a "thankful" one on the Epiphany Crafts blog. I also shared a post there with two carfts - this layout and also a card. I'm sharing the card tomorrow but today I show the main piece.

When I was thinking what I'm thankful and grateful for, the first idea that spurred into my mind was my two daughters. What I'm most thankful and grateful that I can call myself their mom. They both are such lovely personalities and so different - like night and day, really! These two have made me who I am today and we continue to grow together. Like as much I try to guide them and bring them to be strong individuals, they are doing the same to me.

My warm feelings transferred to the warm, even romantic color scheme of the layout. I made the background myself using acrylic paints, stamping, doodling and Pan Pastels. Then I adhered a few of the Epiphany Crafts butterflies to the background and painted a diagonal with gesso thus hiding the patterns I had created otherwise than underneath the butterflies. As gesso has tooth in it, you need to work somewhat fast, but you can clean the paint media off from the epoxies. To add some texture and also to bring some softness to the piece I also added some butterflies punched from vellum to the streak of light.

To add more sweetness to the page I made a little heart pendant and threaded it to a piece of string I then wrapped around my photo and patterned paper layers. I also added some self made brads to the other side of the photo and used rose patterns in them.

Thank you for stopping by today! Please come again tomorrow!
