In a Paris state of mind

Some time ago Lehtipollo, Xing, Elina and me challenged each other to create a layout inspired by Paris and to use a few products on the creation. The idea was to make something Paris-related, not necessarily directly something Parisian. The story behind this is the VersionScrap. Elina was supposed to travel to Paris and the event, too, but had to cancel the last minute. In order to give her a little something the girls had put together a small "Paris in a box" package. It contained the images from Made by Joel's Paris and also had lovely Paris washi in there as well. So those products we needed to include? It was the washi and a piece of the packaging.

I though about my topic a long time. Fist I thought about making a page about something cafeteria-related, like my love for tea. But I have done so many pages about it already! Then I was looking my photos of the Eiffel tower, but wanted to do something not so obvious. And then somewhere came the frase "In a New York state of mind" which I translated into being "In a Paris state of mind". I journaled about it to the back of the layout. It's partly a reminiscent of the feeling I had during the VersionScrap event, partly the feeling I get when traveling around Europe, partly the joy of eating good food and partly just that something Paris has.

Maybe partly because the washi was brown and partly because of my first idea about cafeterias and tea, I chose to go with brown / neutral color scheme. I gessoed a doily (bought from Paris, by the way) to the background and then added different sizes of circles around the center of the picture plain. I colored the circles with Gelatos. I don't actually own any brown ones, but by mixing those I have I created lovely faded browns. To add a little color to the page I also included splashes on Distress Stains in there hitting them hard to the background to get the splashes. And I guess the layout wouldn't be mine with out the mist splashes.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Wishing you a lovely Sunday and great start to the new week!
