Hi there and colorful start to the new week! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I kept myself busy with future deadlines. Today I'm sharing a card I made for our goddaughter when she got confirmed this summer.
I wanted to make something colorful and encouraging. We bought a cross that came with a poem. Freely translated a few lines of it were: "Let the winds blow and lift you up. Fly with an open mind towards an adventure called life. Don't be afraid, your wings will carry." I wrote the poem to the inside of the card but wanted it to echo on the front as well. I didn't want to use a birds wing, as it might have been too angelic, but instead chose to feature a butterfly wing in there.
I thought long about the colors. I wanted to have an explosion of colors but should I place them to the wing or to the background. In the end I thought the look would be more colorful with the background as I was thinking of making the wing as lace-like as possible. To have contrast to the burst of color I cut the wing in white cardstock. I cut the wing using a Cricut machine.
The background of the card is done as a gel print. I then continued building layers by using stencils and paint markers.
Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful week!
