Hi there and happy Friday! Do you know what a Friday means? A new video on my YouTube channel! This time I made an art journal spread in it.
If you have followed me for a while you probably know by now that I usually tend to make art journal pages rather than spreads. Occasionally though I get an urge to pattern both sides of the spread and not just the right page, which I usually do. The spread thing usually happens in this particular journal as well, the small rectangular one.
This spread started with a collage. Where I usually start with either a blank page or an old book page, this time I made a collage with smaller elements from the start. I was using what I had at hand - so there's some pieces of patterned paper, some vintage receipts and tickets but also a piece of a previous collage. To keep the composition going smoothly from one page to the other I worked on the background as a bigger piece and then cut it it half and attached on opposite pages. If you want to see my process, please see the video below!
I'm a "more is more" kind of journaler when it comes to mediums. I just love using different mediums and colors on my projects. In this project I went a bit overboard with different ink colors, but it was fun! I love the chalky look Oxide inks provide, especially if you pair that up with the translucency of the Distress Inks. But you could use watercolors or sprays to color the page as well, if you don't have Oxides!
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you like the video! Have a great weekend!
