Perfection is overrated - Sizzix

Hi there! Today I share a mixed media project I made using Sizzix dies. I used many dies in the making of the project, some from older collections, some newer. Some of the dies are from the Bigz range that cut almost anything, some on the other hand more delicate from the Thinlits or even Impresslits range. If all these terms are not familiar to you, you can get to know more about them in the Sizzix UK site, here (link)

Talking about newer and older dies, chapter 3 of 2019 has just been released! If you want to see all the newbies, see the chapter selection here (link)

I started by die cutting all the elements and then made the composition using them. As you can see, I positioned the flattest to the bottom and then stacked the more dimensional ones on top. I used different textured pieces on the bottom layer. So even if they are flatter than the pieces on top, they have a texture of their own. I cut the pieces made with "Mechanics" and "Elegant" into smaller pieces and adhered to the background. The pieces done using "Flourish" I used as such as the Impresslits both cuts and embosses.

For the top layer I cut different elements from chipboard using a variety of Bigz dies - "Timekeeper", "Steampunk" and "Picture Wheel". You can see the clock face peeking behind of the main composition as well as the picture wheel. The steampunk parts are scattered here and there. I also made some cogs and a wind up key using a Thinlits set "Robotic". I cut the parts from cardstock as the thin die can't handle chipboard but I glued several pieces of the die cuts on top of each other thus getting a bulkier shape.

As you can see, I also mixed in some metal embellishments and a whole lot of metallic colors. I was going for an old brass or copper look and added some green hues to the mix of the metallics.

Thank you for stopping by today!
