For him and her

I'm so thrilled to be guesting today at Canvas Corp's blog! They have a series of "12 Days of Gift Wrap" going on and today is the 12th day. Here's my take on the subject - two little boxes sewn from canvas. The basis of these are similar and I just decorated them differently using Canvas Corp supplies.

The box itself is really easy to make, you just need two squares cut from canvas, the other one being about 0,5 cm (13/64") smaller than the other. My pieces were 10,5x10,5 cm and 10x10 cm (2x2" and 2 13/64 x 2 13/64"). Draw the height of the boxes to canvases (mine are about 2 cm (1") high) and then fold the piece from corner to corner and sew the little bit diagonally along the drawn line on both corners. Repeat to other two corners. Now you have a little box with triangles in the corners. The only thing left is to secure the little triangles to the sides of the box with a few hand stitches or really strong craft glue.

For "him" I left the canvas uncolored and just added a touch of gesso to the sides and on top of the embellishments to mimic snow. Using Canvas Corp kraft papers I created a little rosette and decorated it with two punched snowflakes and a stamped clock. There's some thread from fraying the canvas together with a jute string underneath the rosette. The tag is created by stamping the silhouette from 7 Gypsies stamp set "For the Record" to the kraft paper and then stamping a few numbers around the edges.

For "her" I colored the box red with two Tattered Angels mists: It's Red  and Black Cherry. I also created a little bow decoration and a rose using strips of canvas. I cut two mistletoe leaves from kraft card stock and colored them with a touch green ink. Some stars from 7 Gypsies stamp set "Air Mail" stamped with white ink finish the piece. The tag is done similarly than the "him" version.

Thank you for taking a look! Wishing you a beautiful Sunday!
