Big kid - Creative Inspiration Magazine

Fri-yay! Isn't it wonderful it's Friday? Do you have any plans for the weekend? Crafty time ahead, perhaps? I bet I'll have some crafty times ahead - if you want to know more, please see the Instagram as I try to add a picture or two there!

This page is about weekend activity of other sort - goofing with kids! There's me and my daughters in the photo playing Twister they just got as a Christmas present. The title, "big kid" refers to me as I sometimes act like a big kid. I can act as a teenager, too. At least according to my friend that side of me shows when I'm on a heavy metal gig.

The page is done for an issue of Creative Inspiration magazine quite some time ago. The color theme was black and white plus one. In this page I mixed in some blue. The papers are mainly from 7 Dots Studio. The mediums used in the background are gesso, mist and inks.

Wishing you a great start to the weekend! Thank you for stopping by today!

Go places - Creative Magazine

Moikka! It's a new week! I shall start the week with sharing a page I did for Creative Inspiration magazine some time ago but what didn't make it to the finished magazine, I think.

As you can probably put together from the title of the page, the layout is about traveling and how that gives so much. I love to travel! I mean, I enjoy being home as well, with my family, with a good book and tea, but traveling truly broadens the world. I enjoy learning about new places and new people. Really wonderful!

What has been your best travel experience so far, care to share? I loved Iceland, Japan and Norway but there's good memories from all of the places I've visited. Sometimes it's the people you are with, sometimes the food or the nature.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great start to the week!

Surprise pets - Creative Inspirations Magazine

Hello there! Where do you search for inspiration? Browse through Pinterest, skim through a magazine? Here's a layout that was made for Creative Inspirations magazine with the theme "black and white plus one". You can see the magazine in this post (link).

The story in the layout is something we got for the kids during winter vacation. They had been with their grandparents as my husband and I were working and when they returned home, they were greeted with some freshwater snails in a jar. They named them immediately and watched how they crawled around the jar.

The turquoise seemed a good fit with the aquatic theme. I used some acrylic paints for the background and then layered embossing powder splashes on top. They together with some white doodled circles and see through embellishment try to mimic air bubbles. I also gathered the embellishments in a vertical composition, like floating in water.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Oh these two! - Creative Magazine

It's start of the new week again. Hopefully you had a good, relaxing weekend! Here's the third layout I did for Creative Magazine. Whereas the two before had a pink color palette, I used turquoise and mint for this one. You can see the whole magazine here (link) in a post on the magazine's blog

The two pink ones were of my daughters and kind of stereotypically this turquoise one is of two boys - my husband and my father. It's so wonderful to watch them work together and inspire each other. My father is a carpenter, has been for decades and knows the ways the wood behaves and how you can manipulate it. My husband is an instrument builder, testing the limits of instruments and sound. It's so thrilling to see the spark of both of their eyes when they have an idea how a piece of the musical instrument should be made.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great start to the new week!

Furry friend - Creative Magazine

It's Sunday, yay! How's your weekend been so far? Good, I hope! Yesterday I shared my first page for the latest issue of Creative Magazine and here's the second. The first one was about my older daughter so naturally I needed to balance things with a page about my younger one.

Both of my girls like animals, but my younger one is great with them. She's really good handling my father's big dog even though it's almost bigger than she is. The two of them are almost inseparable when together!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely start to the new week!

Sleeping Beauty - Creative Magazine

Hello and sweet Saturday! This layout is something I created for Creative magazine's April issue. You can see the whole magazine here (link) in this blog post.

The topic of the page is my older daughter, sleeping. She has always had her own way of sleeping, like letter S mirrored. This page documents that. My younger one doesn't have a certain position when she sleeps, more like she's constantly moving around.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great day!

Two - Creative Magazine

Hello there and happy Saturday! How's your weekend started? Creative time in mind? If you are in need of some inspiration, the new Prima challenge is released (link) and if you're not into a challenge, you can also check the latest issue of the Creative magazine (link)

I shared my first page to the magazine on Thursday (link) and today I'm sharing another. There's also a couple of older layouts released in the magazine, but the two I have now blogged are new, done just for the magazine.

The topic of the page is my two girls. The journaling talks about how wonderful it is that there's two of them, to keep each other company and to enrich our lives.

I continued the pink scheme I used in the previous page as well as the month inspiration board was pink in honor of Valentine's day. I mixed some black in as well to give the page more contrast. The supplies are mainly from 7 Dots Studio and Prima Marketing.

Have a great day! Wishing you a lovely, creative weekend, too!

Cool one - Creative Magazine

Hiya! It's Thurday and tomorrow it's Fri-yay! Really cool! What's also cool is the Lego mini figures and especially Maleficent!

My both daughter's play a lot with Legos and I loved those as a child, too. I still enjoy the sets and the clever way they use the bricks. We buy the bigger sets for kids, but what I like to treat myself occasionally are the mini figure sets. When Lego had the Disney set out, I wished so much to get Maleficent and in the end I did!

This page is done for the February issue of the Creative Magazine. You can see the magazine and all the projects here (link) in the magazine blog

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great one!

Delicacy - Turtle Soup Creative Magazine

I did three layouts for the latest issue of the Turtle Soup Creative Magazine. I've shared two of them already and this one is the third. If you want to see all three layouts together and a big big bunch of other fantastic creations, you can see the issue here (link).

What the layouts have in common is the color scheme. Each issue has its own palette and topics. Naturally you could use just either topic or the colors, but I like to use them both in my pieces. So this time the colors were autumn splendor like - oranges, yellows and a hint of brown, too. Not my usual color palette, so maybe that's why these layouts were so fun to make!

The topic of the page is like the title suggests - a delicacy but also how eating habits change when the weather turns colder. It's funny how during summer time I crave for cold foods and light ones - like salads. But when the weather starts to get colder and you can sense the autumn in the air, the eating habits change. And during winter time, all one craves are casseroles and stews! So funny!

But back to the delicacy part and to the photo. Last Christmas I bought some brie cheese and fig preserve to take along to my parents. Even though the plan was to share it with everyone, I guess it was me who ended up eating the most of the cheese. A thin cracker with some dried fruit in it, then a chunk of brie and on top the fig preserve. Oh so delicious!

Thank you for visiting today! Can I ask, what's your favorite treat?

Friends in Crime - Turtle Soup Creative Magazine

Hello there and a happy new week! Yesterday it was my turn over at Artists Live and I made some glittering pastel ATCs. You can see the announcement post here (link). The recording of the show is already published in the Ustream channel (link), but I'm having difficulties to upload it to YouTube. Will let you know when it's up there as well!

This page was something I created for the Turtle Soup Creative Magazine. You can see the whole magazine here (link). Maybe you recognize the persons in the photo? It's me and darling Terhi! The shot is taken when we attended a crop over a year ago and had an assignment during it. We should decorate a letter in pairs or in small groups and that's me doing some doodling while Terhi is doing splashes. If you've seen both of our work, you just know that a project done in co-operation just couldn't exist without those two - we both use them so much in our projects!

I went with a warm, autumn-like color palette, but added some grey in for the contrast. The background is done using watercolors as well as stamping and doodling.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great Tuesday!
