A cup of hot cocoa - a pair of ATCs

Care for a cuppa? Here's some mint chocolate inspired ATCs! 

Some weeks ago I received my order from Nannan Paperi ja Helmi, which included this die and embossing folder set. Naturally I needed to play with my new toys immediately and created this pair of ATCs using them. Instead of coffee or tea, I decided to make hot chocolate mugs - kind of bringing the Holiday vibe to the make. I used Ranger's Distress Inks to color the pieces I cut from cream colored cardstock. The candy cane sticks I made using a red brush tip marker, and added just a hint of ink to the edges of them. The whipped cream on top got some extra fluff from Modeling Paste and the little biscuit some details using the markers as well and then some sprinkled sugar using Rock Candy glitter.

Tea Treats - inspired by tea bags

Care for a cuppa? In this last video project of the month I'm doing crafts I'm not totally sure what they are. They're kind of ATCs but they are not the right size and they might appear little like tags or cards, too, but they are not quite those either. But no matter what they are, they were inspired by a tea bag and its sachet. 

I'm an avid tea drinker. My passion is Earl Grey, but I've been trying to learn away from black tea and get excited about green tea. However, these sachets were inspired by Earl Grey and I used an actual product packaging as the template for these reproductions. I made a master sheet for the sachets and decorated them using these cute little critters with a tea cup and tea bag. You can see the process video here (link) on my YouTube channel.

Even though they are not ATCs, I'm happy to swap these or just send them to a new home, if anyone would like one. The sachet measures about 5,7x7,0 cm or 2 1/4" x 2 3/4".

Man on the Moon? - a set of ATCs

I've been drawn to the shape of a crescent moon lately. I added one to the journal I just shared (link) and now these cards have several moons. These, however, were inspired by a video (link) I saw in Instagram, where the artist did a huge moon background for an assemblage and treated the modeling paste to make the dimpled surface of the moon. Very inspiring, I had to try that myself! 

Instead of adding a lot of layers to the cards, I wanted the moon and it's inhabitant to be the center of attention. So, there's just the moons, a vintage paper doll and a sentiment sticker in each card. The stars I added through some white paint splashes and  three silver sequin stars adhered to the background. The big one is easier to spot than the two tiny ones.

As always, these cards are up for swaps or just to be sent to a new home!

The Magical Forest - a set of ATCs

Hi there! It's Friday again and that again means a new process video on my YouTube channel! This time it's some ATCs with green-copper tones. You can watch the process video here (link) in my YouTube channel.

These ATCs got their inspiration out of a Fabrika Decoru sticker sheet. I had purchased it some time ago, and now thought to put those stickers in use. I gathered supplies that would compliment the forest feel and ended up choosing some mechanical details, too. I use some scraps to create the bases for the ATCs and then layer the embellishments on top keeping the color scheme in greens and copper tones.

Nocturne - a set of ATCs

Hi there and merry new week! While we still are firmly in July, this post has an August air about it. It might be the title as well, that turns my thoughts to the closing August and autumn. But anyhow, here's a set of silhouette plants in ATCs. The backgrounds are done using watercolors and inks. 

There's a couple of things I want to point out about these. First of all the watercolor backgrounds. Not so long ago I purchased some super granulating ones and it was really hard to choose which set to get! In the end I decided on "Deep Sea" set as it had beautiful turquoise and purple together with an ok blue. The set is my Schmincke. This was the first time I used the colors, just painting a little piece of cardstock, seeing how the colors worked. 

The other thing is the tape pieces I used to secure the plants in place. When Tim Holtz's new Idea-ology came out, I immediately fell in love with the yellowish tapes. I knew I could create those myself, too, but still thought to get a set as it's so easy just to pick a ready product. However, they got sold out quickly and I didn't get any. So in this ATC set I used alcohol inks and plain, basic tape to imitate the look. I might do that again because hey, it was just a couple of steps!

This Happy Life - a set of ATCs

Moikka moi and happy new week! This week is going to be a bit shorter than normal, blogging-wise, as it's Midsummer week. Midsummer's Eve is on Friday and there's no process video this week nor a post on that day. So it's just this Tuesday and Wednesday posts. 

Today I'm sharing a set of ATCs. I'm particularly happy with the backgrounds on these, but you really can't see much of those underneath the luscious blooms! I used acrylic paint to add the first layer to the background, but then added a lot of layers using just crayons. The end result is like weathered paint. 

I was going to pair the backgrounds with something smaller on top, but when hunting for that something from my drawer, I run across these flowers. They seemed to fit the bill, so I chose to go with these. I layered a couple of die cuts in each to make the composition fuller and more dimensional. I finished each card with a text sticker and some sparkly rhinestone stickers.
