Love thee

One week ago I was visiting my sweet little daughter at intensive care unit at this time. Luckily she was moved to regular ward during Sunday and we got back home the next day. But the experience made me realize just how fragile life is. 

I wanted to record my feelings of the incident, but didn't want to do a layout from the agonizing point of view but rather a happy one, full of love. I also remembered that ColorConspiracy had a fun challenge going on, so I got counting. How do I love thee, let me count the ways. The journaling is on the back of the layout.

I used a lot of numbers in the layout. The first layer is stamped, then I drew some numbers through a stencil, added stickers and finally chipboards. I also added some label stickers here and there for the school-like feel.

Although the background is grey, I wanted the other colors to be happy and bright, so I wnet with yellow and pink. There's also touches of red and white.

Viikko sitten tähän aikaan olin vierailemassa teho-osastolla nuoremman tyttäreni luona. Onneksi hänet siirrettiin saman päivän aikana normaalille osastolle ja seuraavana päivänä pääsimmekin jo kotiin. Kokemus jätti minuun jälkensä - sain taas muistuksen siitä, kuinka arvokasta ja herkkää elämä on.

Halusin tallentaa ajatuksiani tapahtuneesta leiskaan, mutta en halunnut tehdä siitä synkkää. Halusin ennemmin tallentaa kiitollisuutta ja rakkautta. Satuin muistamaan, että ColorConspiracyllä oli haaste meneillään, joten leiskasta tuli laskemispainotteinen. "How do I love thee, let me count the ways". Tarinointi on leiskan takana.

Käytin paljon numeroita sivussa. Ensimmäinen numerokerros syntyi leimaalalla, sitten piirsin numeroita sabluunan läpi, lisäsin numerotarroja ja lopuksi chipboard koristeita. Lisäsin sivuun myös etikettitarroja koulumaista tunnelmaa luomaan.

Vaikka sivun tausta on harmaa, halusin muut värit iloisiksi ja valoisiksi. Valitsin siis keltaisen ja vaaleanpunaisen. Sivusta löytyy myös tippa punaista ja valkoista.

Pieni hiekkaleipuri layout

Here's a layout I did some time ago. Now I got the video also edited, so I can share it with you, too. The photo has been my "scrap these" folder for a while, as you can see it's very summery, but now I found the perfect background paper for it in the ColorConspiracy's Texturize line. I also used mists, acrylic paint and a transparency for the layout. Please, watch the video to see how this layout came to life!

Tämä sivu syntyi jokunen aika sitten ja nyt sain videonkin editoitua, joten pääsen jakamaan sen kanssanne. Kuva on ollut jo hetken "skräppää nämä" -kansiossa, kuten näkyy. Nyt löysin sille täydellisen tautan ColorConspiracyn Texturize -kokoelmasta. Käytin sivuun mistejä, akryylimaalia ja kalvoa. Videosta näkyy eteneminen!

Big Girl

This page is some what unusual for me - I didn't grab spray inks or acrylic paints as my first things but instead inked the stencil pattern. Then I layered the papers, added some stamping and a few splashes of spray ink. When I showed the layout to my hubby, he thought it wasn't "me". So I added a bit mixed media by using modelling paste.

I made this page for the ColorConspiracy's sketch challenge. I especially liked the circle from on the right and cut a circle out of paper. 

The journaling is about how my almost 4 year old is a big girl. She always wants to point that out.

Tämä sivu oli hieman erikoinen, sillä en aloittanut sen tekoa nappaamalla mistereitä tai akryylimaaleja, vaan sabluunan ja pienen mustetyynyn. Sen jälkeen kerrostin paperit, lisäsin vähän leimailua ja muutamia mustia roiskeita korostamaan paperissa jo olevia roiskeita. Kun näytin sivua miehelleni, hänestä se ei ollut "minua", joten lisäsin vielä hiukan mixed mediaa ja tein kohopastalla pölpyröitä punchinellan läpi. 

Sivu on tehty ColorConspiracyn luonnoshaasteeseen. Pidin erityisesti luonnoksen oikeassa reunassa olevasta ympyränkaaresta, joten leikkasin sellaisen kuviopaperista. 

Tarinointi kertoo, kuinka lähes nelivuotias on jo iso tyttö. Eniten ehkä omasta mielestään, mutta onhan tyttö toki hyvin taitava.

Joulu must / A Christmas must have

ColorConspiracy's December challenge is the things we love about Christmas. For me one of those things is plum jam tarts. I added layers using different papers form the CC collections as well as an old book page. I did some doodling using a hexagon stencil and also inked two of the shapes with red ink. I also splashed some black and white spray ink to the page.

ColorConspiracyn joulukuun haasteena on joulussa rakastamamme asiat. Minulle yksi sellainen ovat joulutortut. Tein kerroksia käyttämällä CCn eri kokoelmien papereita ja vanhaa kirjan sivua. Piirsin mustalla tussilla kuusikulmioita sablunan avulla ja värjäsin kaksi kuviota punaiseksi musteella. Lopuksi roiskin mustaa ja valkoista mistiä sivuun.

Explore. Autumn.

I got my order from ColorConspiracy just in time to participate in this months challenge. The challenge was "wood you love me", which ment the page should have wood or woodgrain present. As I ordered some "Texturize" papers, I naturally chose to go with those.

The page is about autumn and how my daughters and me are two of a kind. We both find the rustling leaves intriguing and essential part of autumn. The journaling is on the upper left corner and written on top on correction tape.

I started creating this page by applying some yellow acrylic paint with a brayer to the background. Then I sprinkled some yellow and red Chalkboard mist to the layout. After that I added some stamping with a woodgrain stamp and then begun to layer papers. There's a piece of patterned tissue paper underneath all and then different papers by ColorConspiracy. 

For the embellisments I used a woodgrain patterned button, some veneer arrows and thread, stickers and stars drawn with a pen through a stencil. I finished the page with a with splashes made with Glimmer Glaze's color "Oil Slick".

Sain tilaukseni ColorConspiracylta juuri sopivasti, jotta ehdin tekemään vielä sivun tämän kuun haasteeseen. Haasteena oli "wood you love me", eli sivussa piti näkyä puuta tavalla tai toisella. Koska tilauksessani oli ihania puukuvioisia "Texturize" papereita, käytin luonnollisesti niitä. 

Sivu kertoo siitä, miten tyttäreni ja minä olemme samanlaisia - miten meille molemmille syksyn rapisevat lehdet ovat se juttu. Tarinointi on kirjoitettu korjausteipille sivun vasempaan yläkulmaan. 

Aloitin sivun luomisen levittämällä taustalle keltaista akryylimaalia telalla. Sitten roiskin kahta eri keltaista ja yhtä punaista Chalkboard mistiä sinne tänne. Lopuksi lisäsin hiukan leimausta puunsyykuvioisella leimalla. Sitten alkoi papereiden kerrostus. Alimmaisena on kuviollista silkkipaperia ja sen päällä erilaisia papereita ColorConspiracylta. 

Koristeiksi käytin puukuvioisen napin, muutamia vaneri"nuolia" ja lankaa, tarroja sekä lyijykynällä sablonan läpi piirreltyjä tähtiä. Viimeistelin sivun mustilla roiskeilla, jotka on tehty Glimmer Glazen värillä "Oil Slick".

Pelot / Fears

Tämä sivu syntyi Scrap African luonnoksen #11 pohjalta. Aihevalinta puolestaan sai inspiraatiota CSI haasteeseen osallistuneesta työstä, jossa oli kuvattu lapsen sen hetkinen pelko. Ajatuksissa tuo pattereiden kuvaus on ollut jo hetken, mutta kipinän skräpätä tämä aihe sain siitä, kun tyttöä alkoi pelottaa tuo lahjaksi saatu iso nukke. Aiemmin nukke on istuskellut tuolilla huoneen nurkassa silloin kun se ei ole leikeissä, mutta nyt nukke on ainakin yöaikaan aina tutimassa pikkusiskon sängyn päädyssä lattialla, niin ettei se näy isosiskon sänkyyn.

This page is made with the sketch from Scrap Africa's challenge #11. The topic on the other hand was inspired by a layout I saw in CSI, where the topic was child's fear. I have been thinking about scrapping those radiators for a while now, but got a new spark when my older girl told me, she was afraid of the big doll at nights. Previously the doll has sat in a stool in children's room when it's now in their play. But nowadays it's always on the floor behind little sister's bed during nights, so that it can't be seen from the big sis's bed.

Color Conspiracy haaste / challenge

ColorConspiracyn haasteessa pyydettiin tällä kertaa geometrisia muotoja ja neon värejä. Tällainen sivu syntyi noista lähtökohdista. Simppelillä linjalla mennään. Geometrisiä muotoja löytyy gesson alta ja samoin konfettina. Neon väriksi suihkuttelin Dylusions sävyä "Vibrant Turquoise". Niiden lisäksi sivussa ei montaa elementtiä olekaan - halusin kuvan pääosaan, koska tytöllä on siinä niin mainio ilme.

Hauskaa viikonloppua kaikille!

This is my take on the ColorConspiracy's challenge. The challenge was to use geometric shapes and neon colours. I choose to keep the layout really simple and didn't add much on top of those requirements. The shapes, triangles, can be found on the background under a coat of gesso as well as in the confetti. For the neon I used a Dylusion spray which in my eye is really near if not excatly neon. The hue is "Vibrant Turquoise".

IS12 leiska / layout

Viimeinen ColorConspiracy leiska uunista ulos. Aiheena on ihana IS12 ja ihanat workshopit. Pohjaan laitoin harsotaitoksen gessolla kiinni. Mistejä, akryylimaaleja ja musteitakin löytyy. Niin ja ihana nappi, jonka tilasin Polkkaponilta. Minusta nuo sananapit ovat loistava keksintö!

This is the last layout made for ColorConspiracy blog. The topic is the great Passionate about Scrapbooking event and its great workshops. I added a gauze to the background using gesso and then applied mists, acrylic paints and inks over it. There's a word button ordered from Polkkaponi, too. I think those word buttons are a great product!

Lisää ColorConspiracya uunista ulos! Edellisen sinisen sivun vastapainoksi punaisia ja oransseja. Tajusin vasta tätä kirjoittaessani, että tuli vahingossa tehtyä tyttöjen sivut lempiväriensä mukaan - A:lle sinistä ja K:lle vaaleanpunaista. 

Tämänkin sivun taisin aloitella jo ISssä, mutta paperit löysivät paikkansa vasta kotona. Namien papereiden lisäksi käytin tähän kakkupapereita, muutamia nappeja ja koristeneuloja. ColorConspiracyn blogista löytyy tarvikelistaa, jos joku kiinnostaa erityisesti. Merkin omilta nettisivuilta löytyy sitten kaikki paperit ja Suomessa näitä tosiaan saa Amaliasta. ColorConspiracylle on tulossa kohta puoliin uusi kokoelma, joka on vielä herkullisempi kuin aikaisemmat, ainakin minun mielestäni.

More ColorConspiracy! I just realized that I made this and the previous page of my two daughters in their favourite colours - A's page in shades of blue and turquoise and this page of K in pink and yellow.

I started working with this page already in IS, but finished it at home. In addition to the colorful papers I used some doilies, buttons and decorative pins. ColorConspiracy minialbumi / Minialbum for ColorConspicary

Huh huijaa, mikä yllätys tuli tässä joku aika sitten ennen Intohimona Skräppäystä. ColorConspiracy merkin May lähetti minulle sponssipaketin mukana papereita ja pyysi jotain kivaa ColorConspiracyn blogiin. Että voisinko tehdä jotain. No, joo, ehdottomasti voisin! Olin erittäin otettu ja kiitollinen pyynnöstä - blogissa kun on toinen toistaan ihanampia taideteoksia. 

Tein blogia varten muutamia juttuja, tässä niistä ensimmäinen esittelyssä omassakin blogissa. ColorConspiracyssa on nähtävillä muutkin, jos on utelias olo. Ensimmäiseksi jutuksi tein pienen kevät albumin. Albumissa on kevään merkkejä koettuna lasten kautta. Oh my what a suprise waited for me one morning in mail, just before the Passionate about Scrapbooking event. ColorConspiracy label's May sent some papers for me along with the sponsor goodies and asked, if I could create something for the ColorConspiracy blog. I had to read the mail a few times just to make sure - of course I could! I was so grateful and surprised! The blog is full of beautiful creations and she wanted me to participate, silly little me! Wow. 

I did a few layouts and a minialbum for the blog. They can all be seen over at ColorConspiracy, but I post them here one by one. So as the first, I'm sharing this little spring minialbum. The journalings are about how you can see it's spring time when following kids. How clothes have got smaller during the winter time, how it's great to wear rubber boots and how there's all sorts of wonderful things growing from the ground. I used lovely papers for the album as well as two technique pages. The other is inspired by Birgit's workshop in IS event and the other is a technique learned from Cuchy from Creative Jump Start workshop.
