Riikka Kovasin - Paperiliitin: Sarcastic galaxy girls

Good Friday! As you know, Friday means a new process video on my YouTube channel! But back to today's video and project! This time I made an art journal spread inspired by some beautiful stickers I purchased from Mimmilä. It's a Finnish brand selling stickers and other paper goods. You can see their selection here (link), in company's webshop. Like I said, I was inspired by this sticker set called "Galaxy eyes". I wanted to mimic the galaxy feel, so I made a background using watercolors and a touch of white acrylic and then layered the girls together with some die cuts on top. You can see my process from the video below.

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I like to juxtapose things. I guess the best example of that is these ATCs (link) I created for Nat's Creative Squad back in the day. There I combined sweet vintage pictures with snarky texts. The texts in this journal spread are from the same snarky pad, but now the images are these a bit ethereal girls. But, maybe as a mother of two teens, I saw the girls as teens with attitude so the snarky, sarcastic comments felt fitting!

Ps. What I also like about the stickers is that they clearly state the use of AI. I really like that kind of transparency as it's then easy for the consumer to make the decision to buy or not to buy the product.
