Welcome to a Finnish ancient forest, where a stone giant Antero Vipunen sleeps! These little boxes are something I created for PaperArtsy. They hold two themes - post theme of "Shrines" and also a quarterly theme of "Tracks". Let me explain.
This year the posts in PaperArtsy blog have themes running cross different topics. There's three different topics per three months and then one theme that combines them all together. This time that bigger, umbrella theme was "Tracks" and we could interpret it in a multitude of ways. When pitching my ideas, I had another project with a Finnish take on the theme where as these little boxes first had more of a personal tracking story. But, in the end I combined the two, thus giving birth to "Anteros".
If you want to read more about my process and see these created step by step, please head over to PaperArtsy's blog (link). There's also a good amount of Finnish mythology in there, which I used as a jumping off point for these portable shrines. I've also included a couple of links to further readings, should you want to know even more.
Thank you for stopping by today! I really enjoyed making these and taking a deeper dive to the old Finnish believes. Stay safe everyone and have a great start to the new week!
