Your hugs warm my heart - Wow Embossing Powder and Pink and Main

Moikka and welcome to my blog! Also welcome to a Wow! Embossing Powder and Pink and Main blog hop! If you arrived from Raluca, you are on the right track! If you are just getting started, then please read on and then head over to Wow! Embossing Powder blog where the hop is starting!

If this is your first time here, a warm welcome! My name is Riikka Kovasin and I'm a mixed media crafter from Finland. I do layouts, altered projects, canvases and as you can see, cards! These are more "clean" than some of my projects, but the little cutie penguins needed a cleaner background than my usual mixed media work. Please feel free to browse the blog for other my projects and crafts!

If you are here mainly for the hop, please continue reading! I share some close ups of the cards further down and some thoughts also how I made them.

What would a blog hop be without a prize? And the prize is amazing! The Prize Package consists of a $25 gift certificate to Pink and Main store and 6 x powders + carry case from the WOW! Embossing Powder Store. The winners of the hop will be announced on October 22nd both on Pink and Main as well as Wow! Embossing blog.

 Here's your hop list:

Riikka (you are here!)

First I thought to use black embossing powder on my penguins but that's something I always do. So I thought to do the colored images a bit different this time. Instead of the black I used a chilly pale blue and then colored the creatures using watercolors. The penguins are from the set called "Warm Hug". You can see all the products with links below!

The snowy pattern on top of the patterned paper backing the small penguins is done using a Pink and Main stencil and white embossing powder. I mixed two grain sizes in the pattern so it looks even more snowy. Like packed snow in places (using biggest grain size of the powder) and then just delicate fallen snow on other places (regular grain size). I also used the regular grain sized powder around the edges of the pieces to get them a snowy edge.

The sentiment is heat embossed using a blue color blend called Oceanic. I thought it fitted the cards well as I didn't use black in the penguins either.

But now it's your time to hop forward and your next stop is Tracy! So hippity hop forward and I hope I'll see you another time, too! Thank you for stopping by today!
