Small holiday tags - Sizzix

Ho ho ho! Is it Christmas yet? Sizzix is celebrating Christmas already and there's amazing giveaways everyday this week! So if you want to join the fun (you really need to!) then head over to Sizzix home page (link) to participate!

I also started thinking about Christmas and Holidays already and used some new dies to make tiny holiday tags! They are really easy to make so I made a step by step tutorial in case you want to make some, too.

Step 1. Start by cutting the tags for these little decorations. You can use any color, but I felt that kraft colored cardstock was just perfect. Neutral but warm at the same time. Use the Bigz die "Essential Tags".

Step 2. Add some "snow" to the background using white gesso. Apply the primer using a silicone brush, palette knife or equivalent. Go for a grungy look.

Step 3. Cut the embellishment parts using different colored cardstocks from the Making Essenttial pack. Use snow white, bauble red and reindeer grey. You can also use just one color. Use different dies from the "Festive" set.

Step 4. Adhere the small die cuts to the tags. The embellishments can go over the edges, everything doesn't have to fit inside the tag. It's up to you if you want to trim the excess off or leave it like it is.

Step 5. Finish the little tags using gel pen, markers and stamping. Add a little doodled edge for example or use a tiny stamp to add your wishes to the tag.

Here they all are! I made the tags with quite traditional colors, but the great thing about dies is that you can make the tags in just the color you want! You can use metallic shades, blues and icy colors or then go monochromatic with black and white. I usually pick a color scheme for each Christmas which I then use in the cards, gifts and possibly even in table setting and tree. I normally go for blues or black and white, but this year I'm using the tropical trend and going with pink!

But just in case Christmas is way ahead of time for you, I used the same tutorial with some other dies and colors for some Halloween tags! Just replace the white gesso with black and use Halloween dies and you have lovely little tags to decorate your candy pouches or little gifts for the trick-or-treaters!

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!
