Inspired by... a themed kit

It's again the 10th of the month and time for the "Inspired by" creation! But what is Inspired by? Every month darling Marsha and I choose a subject to be inspired by. It can be a movie (link)an item (link)a designer (link), a painting (link) or a music style (link). Then we make something inspired by that theme or a piece of art and share it with you and each other on the 10th of the month.

This time Marsha sent me a kit to be inspired by. As we are soon (!!) leaving for Paris to take part in Vesion Scrap workshops, the theme of the kit was Paris. She told me that the twine lady chipboard and the stickers she bought when visiting that city last time. And the kit also included Marie Claire Idées, some tea, a metal little frame and all sorts of little lovelies.

I got the idea what to do almost immediately. I wanted to do something connected to the journey. And even though I enjoy minialbums, I'm so poor in making them ready. Especially if I have to print the photos long after the event and then try to put the album together. So I've come up with a solution that works really well to me and have used it to document several vacations. You can find the first post about the solution here (link) and the second here (link).

Here's the first stage of the project - how I used the products from the kit. Inspired by the tea with rose petals and phrase "la vie en rose" I chose to go with pink color scheme. So I tore pink and peachy images from the magazine and cut them into thin strips. I fuzzy cut the "Tour d'Eiffel" from the tag and also speared the piece of twine, too. The chippie I covered with pink embossing powder and from the sticker sheets I cut a few stickers apart that I could use. Lastly I brewed the tea and then started working.

If you checked the links to previous posts, you noticed that my solution to document vacations is a postcard box. Last time, when visiting Stockholm, the only bad thing in the box was the size - the 10x15 cm is too small to gather any brochures and ephemera. So this time I made the box bigger in every dimension. I used two 12x12" sheets by 7 Dots Studio and made the box 15x20 cm and 2 cm high. Before I attached the pieces together and made the box 3-dimensional, I decorated the cover using the kit Marsha sent me. I also used gesso, paints and mists to get a mixed media feeling to the piece.

Now I have my travel album all ready for the trip! Oh, let it be April soon! In the meanwhile, let's all jump to Marsha's blog to see what she has come up with using similar supplies! Could she have done a minialbum for the journey too? Or maybe it's a canvas this time? Or then she could have documented her previous visits to the city? Click here to find out!

Materials: 7 Dots Studio, Tattered Angels, Talens, Luminarte
