Inspired by HEMA

It's again the 10th of the month and time for the "Inspired by" creation. But what is Inspired by? Every month awesome Marsha and I choose a subject to be inspired by. It can be a movie (link), an item (link), a designer (link), a painting (link) or a music style (link). Then we make something inspired by that theme or a piece of art and share it with you and each other on the 10th of the month. Here's the link to Marsha's creation this time!

This time we decided to be inspired by HEMA. It all started with a lovely birthday present Marsha sent me that was full of HEMA goodies! She had bought something similar for herself, too, I we decided to go with the supplies shown at the picture on top: two sheets of stickers, patterned post-it notes, a pencil, a stamp, two rolls of washi tape, a quote stamp and tags. We thought some rules might be in order like we had to use every supply at least once. We also thought to limit the other materials. I think our first take was three paint medias and two additional supplies. But in the end the rule was "as little as possible".

The supplies from HEMA were really inspirational and I loved the nautical theme and the stripes and the bright happy colors. It was also über cool to know that HEMA has got something similar to the date stamps with different sayings. Very trendy!

Here's my first take with the supplies. I used one 12x12" sheet as the backgrounf and then layered the post it tags on top. I also used mist, Gelatos and stamping on the background. On top of the HEMA supplies I added a piece of twine to the mix as well.

The topic of the page is my summer shoes which were so cute! Black ballerinas with white polka dots - I adored them. The journaling is written with the pencil underneath the washi tape strips.

I also made another little craft with the HEMA supplies. I bought a little notebook and transformed it into a "scrap this" memo. The covers were made of clear plastic, put after adding some sticky back canvas and gesso to them, they definitely weren't see-through anymore. I also added some stamping and pencil doodling to the background. Then I layered a tag, some post its, washi tape and stickers and coated them all with a coat of gel medium to protect them as the memo travels in my bag daily. I really like how this turned out! This has been in use for over a month now and it still is in good shape, only the pages inside get fewer and fewer as I write down my ideas and then rip the whole page when I've made a page according it.

I hope my creations have inspired you! Now please visit Marsha to find more inspiration!
