Tassig gubbe

I got a new toy as a Christmas present - a bright light lamp. So I just had to try it and took some step pictures while I created this layout. The papers are by ColorConspiracy and that stencil in by Crafter's Workshop. 

The layout is about how my two year old is learning new phrases and how she keeps repeating them over and over again like a little parrot. One of these was "tassig gubbe" - silly man in translation. The title is actually in Swedish, because our family is bi-lingual.

First I took my favourite Daily Kate paper, a stencil and some oil pastels. I choose a white one, but any color will work with this technique. The out come only differes depending on the color, using white gives really subtle impression. I drew the outlines of the template with the pastel. 

After that I grabbed some of my Stains and pounded away. The stencil pattern emerges because the crayon resists the ink in the Stains. Have you by the way noticed that different colors of the Stains burst out differently? 

Then I started to layer the papers. First I added the photo and the paper layers on to the stenciled area, but the paper layers ended up covering almost the whole colored area, so I flipped the paper. Now the color burst showed behind the photo.

It seemed that the stenciled area needed some balance underneath the photo, so I drew the same shapes with a black felt pen under neath the photo- I also added layers of vellum under the woodgrain paper.

To balance the design, I added another stack of patterned paper to the right side and pieces of a transparency here and there.

Then I added a touch of black by stamping arrows and week days on to the page. I also stamped the date and put the title in place using glitter alpha.

Finishing touches to the page using different embellishments. I added a circle cut from a patterned paper, little banner and some thread and buttons. There's also a paperclip and a small sticker attached near the photo. Last phase was to add the journaling.

Sain joululahjaksi uuden lelun, kirkasvalolampun. Piti heti kokeilla ottaa sen avustuksella vaihekuvat, kun skräppäsin yllä olevan leiskan. Tarinana siinä on se, miten kaksivuotias oppii uusia fraaseja ja höpöttää niitä kuin pieni papukaija. Yksi näitä oli "tassig gubbe", hassu setä. Perheemme on kaksikielinen.

1. Ensin otin suosikki Daily Kate -sarjan paperini, sabluunan ja öljypastellit. Valitsin valkoisen värin, mutta mikä tahansa väri käy tähän tekniikkaan. Lopputulos riippuu käytetystä väristä, valkoinen antaa hienovaraisen vaikutelman. Piirsin pastellilla sabluunakuvion ääriviivat.

2. Tämän jälkeen nappasin muutamia Staineja ja hakkasin menemään. Sablunakuvio tulee esiin, koska öljyinen liitu vastustaa vetistä Stainia. Oletteko muuten huomanneet, että eriväriset Stainit roiskahtavat eri tavoin?

3. Sitten aloin kerrostamaan papereita. Ensin lisäsin kuvan ja paperit värjätyn kohdan päälle, mutta silloin kerrokset peittivät taustan värit lähes kokonaan. Käänsin siis paperin toisinpäin, nyt värit leimusivat kuvan oikealla puolella.

4. Vaikutti siltä, että sablunan avulla käsitelty alue oli aika irrallinen, joten piirsin samaa kuviota mustalla kynällä kuvan alle. Lisäsin paperikerrosten alle myös pari kuultopaperikerrosta.

5. Tasapainottaakseni vaikutelmaa, lisäsin sivun oikeaan laitaan myös paperikerroksia. Sitten leikkelin kalvosta palasia sinne tänne.

6. Halusin sivun mustaa antamaan ryhtiä ja kontrastia, joten leimailin muutaman nuolen ja viikonpäiviä sinne tänne. Leimasin myös päivämäärän sekä laitoin otsikon paikoilleen glitter-kirjaimilla.

7. Viimeistelin sivun muutamilla koristeilla. Lisäsin ColorConspiracyn paperista leikatun ympyrän, pienen viirin, vähän lankaa ja nappeja. Kuvan lähelle asettelin klemmarin ja pienen tarran. Viimeiseksi kirjoitin sivuun tarinoinnin.
