Grungy butterfly cards - 7 Dots Studio

Light Midsummer's Eve! I'm sharing a couple of cards with a video with you today! It seems that I went a bit crazy with the papers on these ones. I mean, the cards don’t have so many layers but still I managed to use five 12x12” while creating them!

I’m not a big fan of fussy cutting. I mean, I love the look of it and the skill people have, but I normally lack the patience to do it myself. But while thinking about a project to do this time, I got my eye on the butterfly paper from “Garden Party” and thought that those little winged things would make a perfect embellishment to a project. That’s how the inspiration started rolling. After that I then just chose a couple of more papers I could cut into pieces and then the background.

As I had chosen flowers and butterflies, I had two options – go with the sweet, romantic flow or then do something completely opposite. I chose the latter and grungied the cards up with the “crackled paint on the wall” paper. To emphasize that I also used crackle paste in the background which I normally don’t use either. As the cracks appear best when the paste dries naturally, I usually steer away from it as I’m wanting things done today and right now rather than waiting for them. So, two unusual things in the cards! The crackle isn’t that visible, though, as I got impatient while it was drying and used a heat gun instead. If you want to see how I created the cards, please see the video above!

Wishing you all a merry Midsummer's Eve! Be safe! Thank you so much for stopping by today!
