Hi there and sweet new week! Today I'm sharing my first project using Sizzix supplies this month! It's a grungy, blooming little tag which I created with a step by step tutorial. Hope you like it!
I combined a 3D embossing folder to some mechanical looking shapes in this tag. The flourish pattern in the embossing folder got me thinking about flowers so I wanted to add some of those in the mix as well, but kept the color palette vintage styled.
If you want to know how I made the tag, please follow the steps underneath!
Step 1. Add some aluminium tape on top of a piece of cardstock and run it though the Big Shot machine using "3D Texture Fades Elegant" embossing folder.
Step 2. Age the piece using some alcohol inks, black gesso and embossing powders. Start with alcohol inks using rusty tones, then add some embossing powders on top to add some texture. Finish the look by adding black gesso on top and then rubbing it off almost completely.
Step 3. Using "Steampunk Parts" and "Trinket Frames die" Bigz dies cut some pieces out of chipboard or something equivalent. I used a coaster.
Step 4. Age the parts using black gesso and waxes. First paint the chipboard parts with black gesso and then add some metallic shine on top using the waxes. Treat the shapes partly with a light touch and apply wax with a heavier hand in other places.
Step 5. Start the layering. Cut some delicate lace pieces using "Crochet" Thinlits die set. Cut strips out of an old book page and layer those together with the laces to the background.
Step 6. Adhere the flourish piece behind the trinket frame and trim excess off. Also cut some leaves out of old book paper using "3D Impresslits Leaf" embossing folder.
Step 7. Start assembling your tag. Adhere the focal point - the frame in place. Attach a few of the propeller looking parts with brads.
Step 8. Make the design fuller by adding a few flowers, rest of the rustic parts and the bolts. Use a craft glue to adhere. Adhere the leaves next to the flowers.
Step 9. Finish the tag with some watercolor splashes and a text sticker. Done!
Above is a close up of the texture in the flourish embossed piece. The tiny grains and texture you can see there comes from the embossing powders. I heated the piece from underneath so I didn't need any ink even.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you liked the step by step!
